Fairmont St. Andrews - The Torrance Course
About
Perched atop the cliffs that are situated above St. Andrews Bay, Fairmont St. Andrews offers two stunning traditional links golf courses, the Torrance and the Kittocks. In a region famous for being the home of golf, both courses manage to hold their own against the area's other links courses. Playing the Torrance Course, you would never believe that it was once flat farmland. The designer, Sam Torrance, transformed the course into a challenging links layout that looks as though it has been there forever. The classic Scottish bunkers that are strategically placed throughout provide a formidable test. Be careful from the 14th green to the final hole or you might find yourself tumbling down the rocky cliffs. This dramatic final stretch of holes is especially scenic and challenging with greens that play right along the edge of the water.

Good test of golf for all levels of golfer.
We have played this course a number of times and it is always in good nick and we enjoy the layout and challenge. Weather was cold but ideal playing conditions. The staff were very welcoming but day was slightly marred by the club house not offering any food after our round despite us ordering before the 4.30pm curfew. Would still come back however.
Great course, lovely location, fantastic views
Played the Torrance course and its didn't disappoint, we were lucky enough to have a great day with the weather, course was in great condition, terrific layout with some challenging holes and some fantastic views over the coast on the back 9, definitely one to play if your on the east coast. Worth mentioning we stopped off at the club house bar and grill post round for a drink and quick bite to eat, great set-up and a warm welcome.
Below expectations
Presenting a course must be challenging with so much quality around it,
That said it fell short in so many areas
Shop not advising you need to pay for balls when in the shop ??
Tee markers for gents but not women ??
It is early season but the condition of fairways, & greens were very poor - having played a few other courses earlier in the week
Bunkers were good & consistent
Signage could have been better placed, to help first time visitors, a few were missed or difficult to spot
Some holes and views were impressive and challenging
Would you want to visit again - sorry but no
Unbelievably great course
Course was in amazing condition. We got a calm day so course was relatively straight forward but can imagine this would be tough if the wind got up. Highly recommended course in the home of golf
Great course on a quiet autumns day
Felt like we were the only ones in the course! Well maintained with no wet patched after lots of rain days before. Greens we’re difficult and the wind plays a big factor
Fairmont torrance course
Played the torrance course. It was like millionaires golf no one in front of me. The course was a little wet but did not affect the game. Challenging course especially when the wind gets up. Would recommend it was one of the cheaper courses in the area.
Great course very fair in great condition for this time of year can’t wait to go back and play again
What a beauty in the area golf first began
Blimey what a course...the views are stunning. The greens and fairways were impeccable....I couldn't believe it wag end of October as the course played like it was middle of the summer....make sure you stay on the fairway as you won't find your own ball in the rough, but you may find other people's....top day out total gem, I'll be back again definitely
Nice holiday golf
Other than the views which are outstanding just a nice course for holiday golf. No memorable holes.
Great golf
Really enjoyable experience. Course was in first class condition with an interesting lay out with a wide variety of holes. Views across the bay were magnificent.
Greens had a lovely smooth surface even in late October.
Well worth a visit, I’ll certainly be back.
BRRRRUIIIILLLLIANT as the Scots would say
Fantastic place the Fairmont. Exceptionally beautiful although couldn't figure our why the restaurant was closed...?????? Fantastic set up and we'll be back! Can't beat the place for value!!!!!!
