Troon Links - Darley
About
The first Troon Municipal Darley Golf Course dates from about 1910, though the current one, with its original bogey par of 71 opened June 9, 1951.
Troon Links - Darley plays shorter than Lochgreen, meaning a tight round of golf with heather and gorse clogging the edges of several fairways, and an easy enough start makes the tests between the fifth and 15th holes all the more frustrating.
Shoot straight on Troon Links - Darley, as, in addition to the heather and gorse, there's plenty of whin.

Great wee challenge
Good course great value for money good test of golf nice fast greens played a few times now but this was the first time booking through the app overall excellent day
Excellent
Course in fantastic condition for time of year, greens slick and fast, and for £16 great value for money.
Darley
Course condition was dry but full of rabbit holes. Need to be wary of footing due to amount of rabbit holes on each and every fairway.
Greens great condition along with firmness of fairways.
Good value for money but I’d even say dangerous in places.
Excellent
We were 2 ladies playing the Darley course on a Saturday morning. The speed of play was slightly slow at times but we managed our round in 3.5 hours . Some very long holes but fairways and greens were in excellent condition. There were also some tricky holes , one par 3 in particular but overall a great experience and will definitely return soon .
This could be amazing!
Such a great layout with very good greens! Come on council sort all the rabbit holes and tees!! This has been the same for the 32 years I have been coming down to play this course! Garbage around the course has improved but I would make the high school come out once a week with a work party and pick up all the rubbish they throw on the course! This is such a great layout and is an amazing track let down by rabbit holes everywhere, rubbish and dog Shi*te. Love the new club house!! Tees are also a mess!! Lots of work rebuilding bunkers so the are trying but all the tees need dug up and replaced. Love this course and so sad to see it in this condition.
Really Enjoyable Day
First time playing the Darley and had a really enjoyable day. Course layout was excellent with a good mix of holes. Well bunkered especially on the back 9 when the wind got up. A few blind tee shots round the turn. 5th hole an excellent driving hole over gorse bushes to a gorse lined fairway. 9th hole a really good par 3. Starters and pro were really welcoming and the members were the freindliest ive ever met in 30 years playing golf. Couldnt reccomend highly enough!!!!
Fantastic Value.
Love the Darley. Always a great test and in good condition.
Troon Darley
What a fantastic day . Course immaculate, like a spring day. What condition the course for 28th December. Can't wait to back try the other 2 courses over the winter period.
Great day at Troon
Went to Troon as my own course in Glasgow was unplayable due to fog and cold temperature (winter greens ) as usual when we arrived at Troon the weather was totally fine no fog and no winter greens and no fairway mats . The course was in good condition for this time of year and the greens were great to putt on . The cantina was good the staff are quick, friendly and efficient and the food is tasty and reasonably priced . Definitely worth a visit at any time of the year . The staff are all very friendly and same in the pro shop . I would highly recommend a trip to Troon to play the Darley or Lochgreen I’ve never played the Fullerton but I’m sure it’s also a good experience .
A trip down Memory Lane
Having played the Troon municipals as a teenager it was nice to reacquaint myself with an old favourite. Benign weather meant that the course was the challenge alone, and there are some holes where tee shot positioning is critical. For a late November day the greens were in excellent condition and pretty fast too. All in all an excellent day's golf that was a credit to the Links management.
Darley has gone downhiill!
I have been playing Darley GC for many years and I was disappointed to see it in the condition it was in yesterday. On first arrival the course looks great with the newly renovated clubhouse, but the first thing that struck us was how empty to car park was. We'd normally be struggling to find a parking space. It seemed like we had the course to our self with no one in front or behind us.
Out on the course, the greens were okay but it was the condition of the fairways that were the big surprise, very patchy and bare in a lot of places. My playing partner and I commented on how few good lies we had on the fairways.
When we last played the course about 6 months ago, it was very tidy and the course condition was great, but yesterday there was rubbish all over the place, dog walkers seemed to be everywhere (we watched one guy with 4 dogs letting them have the run of one of the fairways right at the 4th green).
Overall really disappointed in the condition of one of my favourite courses!
Good test of golf
Excellent day at darly golf course, Tee offs has to be accurate or you will be punished
