Troon Links - Darley
About
The first Troon Municipal Darley Golf Course dates from about 1910, though the current one, with its original bogey par of 71 opened June 9, 1951.
Troon Links - Darley plays shorter than Lochgreen, meaning a tight round of golf with heather and gorse clogging the edges of several fairways, and an easy enough start makes the tests between the fifth and 15th holes all the more frustrating.
Shoot straight on Troon Links - Darley, as, in addition to the heather and gorse, there's plenty of whin.

Good value
Staff very friendly, course in good condition considering the time of year and weather conditions. Beware of the many non-golfers walking across the course, blissfully unaware of golfers playing golf!
Tricky and enjoyable
Got lucky with the weather, beautiful day. For a ‘public’ course this was a great test on a links course. Some fairways had bee worked in but didn’t detract from the round. Good mix of long and short holes. I’ll be back
Day out on Darley
I hadn’t played the course for a very long time and whilst I love the layout of each of the holes, I did think it lacks some attention which may be down to the large numbers playing the course or the staffing issues related to Covid. Still a great value for money day out.
Course being tamed
Lots of on course work being carried out that is taking some of the sting out of the cours. The cutting back of gorse is removing part of the defence that made the course worth playing. Before you had to be accurate from the tee, now just take driver every time. No real strategy in playing 3 wood or long iron . Was a course that made you play to your handicap . Now it's just a bit longer Fullarton.
A proper challenge
A great day out on the course in January, course was in good condition considering some of the heavy rain and frosts recently. Very natural looking course with some blind shots. Glad we took a chance on this course looking forward to playing it again.
Decent council course
Had a good day out on the course. The layout has been changed so no golf apps currently work so having to look for distance markers. Greens were decent for this time of year. For under £30 always worth playing
Good layout
We turned up early to get breakfast in the clubhouse, excellent clubhouse friendly staff and food was excellent value.
Course has a great layout no 2 holes the same good test of golf.
Greens were a bit soft but due to the recent rain this is understandable.
No rakes in the bunkers but good sand only down side was quite a few cans and bottles lying on the course.
1st time playing the course and will definitely go back and play in the summer excellent value.
Golf course or dog walking park ?
Played this course and just about every hole had a dog Walker on it and at 1point a dog not on a lead changed at me trying to steal my ball ! I did get a sorry from the dog owner but after 15 holes of being put off and interrupted by dogs and there owners I would not go back to this course ! I complained to the course starter about the goings on around this course and he was unapologetic, and said that there is nothing can be done about them ! So this course it being ruined by a selection of ignorant people ! This course cost me £20 to play ! And my day was ruined by Shyte people and they’re shyting dogs ! The people who run this course should hang there heads in Shame ! Do your job !
Fantastic day out
What a great day. The sunshine was out and the course was in great condition. For value you cannot beat any of the courses in Troon. Darley is tricky but a real treat for any golfer.
Great test of golf
Played Lochgreen which was good , but this is easily the best of the three courses and well worth the money.
Challenging but playable.
An opportunity to play in Troon
In terms of availability and fitting in with holiday schedules- this was my best option.
Overall I would say this was a fair test of golf over a different terrain (my home course is parkland) - and I got a round in for a modest fee.
I enjoyed it - it was a little slow pace at times- greens good - and for the money- you can’t ask for much more.
Very poor
Very poor overall not worth £33 typical council golf course greens were the only good point about the round would not play there again
Hard course
Very good and testing course. Be prepared to lose balls if your not going down the middle. Ninth hole is now an absolute disaster though. What were they thinking. Good course but £36 is steep. Better coursed locally for less.
