Kingussie Golf Club
About
Kingussie Golf Club was established in 1891. In 1908, Kingussie sought the advice of Harry Vardon and extended the course to 18 holes. While some improvements and modifications have been made, the golf course is still very much as it was - Highland golf at its best.
Kingussie offers moderately easy walking on upland terrain, with a few short climbs at the fourth and eighth holes. In general, the fairways are of a generous nature, but the golf course is deceptive and position off the tee is an important consideration.
Kingussie Golf Club's signature hole is No. 4. Although only 475 yards long, the par-5 hole is deceptively difficult. It is the only par-5 hole on the 18-hole course, which measures 5,615 yards from the white tees. Par is 68.

Good drive! Photo submitted by t649276000 on 10/03/2021
Brilliant course.
I am new to the game so very inexperienced but this course was brilliant. Well worth the money. I played the weekend before aswell and enjoyed it that much we went back this weekend. Unfortunately the greens had been sanded so where a wee bit disappointing as the greens the week before where awesome. But saying that it’s the time of year to get done and it needs to be done to keep such a high standard that the course is at and shows the amount of upkeep it takes to keep it in such good nick! I will Definetly be back.
Will be nice in the summer
Greens had just been cored and dressed so that was disappointing. It's essential maintenance that needs doing so just bad timing for us. Had we known we might have just decided to play elsewhere and then play Kingussie on another occasion. Arrived to a closed Clubhouse and when we finished we weren't allowed in to use the toilet as a funeral party was expected. Hope you have a strong bladder !!! I'm sure if we return at a different time of year it would be a 4 or 5 star experience.
Gem
We had a wonderful round. The course itself was in fantastic condition, loved the layout and the scenery was beautiful. I can think of few courses I’ve played which I’ve enjoyed as much as Kingussie. I would like to get back to play as often as possible. Loved it.
Fantastic course
Helped that the sun was shining and the views breathtaking . Golf course challenging and fun
A wee gem
Played whilst on holiday in Aviemore. Excellent course really well maintained and super fast greens. Warm welcome and a few tips from the lovely lady starter. Some quirky par 3s which added to a great experience. Some excellent views throughout. Will definitely play here again.
A great golf course!
Kingussie is a fantastic golf course; really enjoyed the round. Greens and fairways in excellent condition. Quite challenging holes with a few surprises! Really great views in every direction.
Kingussie golf course
Played this course on a Monday morning while on holiday. It was very quiet & peaceful fairways & greens are in excellent condition. Love the course layout, will definitely play again
Quiet Friday round with my boy.
Great round of golf, starter in the clubhouse was really great explained the course and was pleasant and genuine.
Weather was poor but picked up though the day. Course was in great nick. Greens were great even if a bit soaked.
Top drawer.
Great day out
We play Kingussie a couple of times a year but must say the course is in as good condition as it ever has been, more so considering the damage the floods did a couple of years ago.
We played as a 2 ball behind a local 4 and got round in 3 hours 5 mins. Even more impressive was the 16 man visiting party which kept up the pace with us.
If Carlberg did days on the golf course...........
Superb course with fantastic scenery
Lovely course with fantastic scenery played in glorious sunshine. Highly recommended.
a gem
Beautiful location and friendly. Course will get even better as the course gets into spring and the sun emerges !
Picturesque and challenging
A picturesque and challenging course. Perfect weather helped to lead to a very enjoyable round. Good value for money
Great highland course
Kingussie is relatively short but always enjoyable. There are great views from the higher parts of the course and some really interesting holes.
Great views - great hills !
Superb views but a lot of stiff hill climbing too. Nice springy highlands turf and good greens but if you've a heart condition - go play nearby Newtonmore which is flat. Staff all super friendly but food only average. As the previous reviewer says - all the par 3's are special !
A Golfing Gem
A must play! There are many grander courses in this part of the world, but don't forget the hidden gems. Kingussie is an excellent example in this category. It's not long, instead you have to think your way around these beautifully scenic golf holes. In particular you will remember all of the short par threes. If you are in the Highlands it would be a shame to miss Kingussie from your golfing itinerary.
