Kingussie Golf Club
About
Kingussie Golf Club was established in 1891. In 1908, Kingussie sought the advice of Harry Vardon and extended the course to 18 holes. While some improvements and modifications have been made, the golf course is still very much as it was - Highland golf at its best.
Kingussie offers moderately easy walking on upland terrain, with a few short climbs at the fourth and eighth holes. In general, the fairways are of a generous nature, but the golf course is deceptive and position off the tee is an important consideration.
Kingussie Golf Club's signature hole is No. 4. Although only 475 yards long, the par-5 hole is deceptively difficult. It is the only par-5 hole on the 18-hole course, which measures 5,615 yards from the white tees. Par is 68.

Quirky, fun layout
Courses are courses are courses. So I like stumbling across tracks with a bit of character. This fits that bill. Staff were as friendly as you can get. The views are spectacular. I played on the very last day of October, the course was in remarkable condition for this time of year. The layout rewards accuracy off the tee but a little wayward isn't too severely punished. The 11th tee is the highest point of the course and worth taking in the scenery from. Its also a fabulous little hole. The 7th is a par 3 carry across the river, albeit a short one. The 8th also a par three is completely blind over a hill. The pin position indicator is one of those quirks I love. The Hot Deal price was an absolute bargain. I'll certainly revisit.
Super course
Really enjoyed our visit to Kingussie, great layout with some really fabulous par 3's
Course was in great condition despite the heavy rain.
Would definitely recommendm
Review
Fantastic layout, definitely recommended, great food and staff
If you have 5+ hours…
Course was in great condition but unfortunately as it had taken over 3 hours to play 12 holes, we had to walk in as we didn’t have the time for a round taking that long. We were warned by the ladies in front off the second green if we realised just how long this round was going to take, suggesting that it is a known issue. Given we had paid over £25 a complete joke to be honest. A real shame as some of the holes were fun, par 3s particularly.
Great course
Great wee course I’d recommend a visit. Great views too!
Loved the course, scenery was spectacular.
Greens lightning quick, saw a red squirrel on hole 15, holed a wedge for eagle two at 13.
All together made a great day!!
Will definitely be back
One of the most beautiful courses you could play
This course is a real gem. Had a fantastic day playing in breath taking scenery on a course that was in fantastic condition with some really interesting holes. Staff and members were all super-friendly. Will definitely be back.
A hidden gem
Fantastic course with great views and some interesting par 3’s., overall the course was in fantastic condition staff were friendly and welcoming.
My Favourite hidden gem golf course.
1,000 feet up with stunning views towards the Cairgorms. Buzzard soaring overhead and a couple of red squirrels scurrying across the course. 120 year old course designed when golf clubs had hickory shafts, the course remains a challenge with all the modern technology available to us golfers. Many holes with elavated tees and able to look down towards the flag. Some, especially par 3's are spectacular. Whenever I am in that part of Scotland I make a point of playing this fantastic wee course. 18 holes of sheer joy.
Excellent course and friendly barmaid
Really nice course in stunning location and excellent condition. Views are stunning. Practice green and nets leave a bit to be desired, but not reflective of an excellent course. Pretty hilly though, so consider a buggy if mobility issues
Excellent course
The first time playing Kingussie and will certainly look to play again when we next visit Scotland. We booked on a ‘hot deal’ which was exceptional value and the tee time we selected was midweek and we had no one in front of us. The course was in excellent condition, there’s some very testing holes but they’re not stupidly difficult, so you can make a good score in you don’t get too greedy. We ate in the clubhouse afterwards and the staff were very friendly, the food was very good (in value and quality) and we’d happily recommend the course. My only comment would be if you’re use to playing on a fairly flat course, you might want to consider hiring an electric trolley rather than using a push (I carry but the Wife uses a push trolley on holiday and she found some of the inclines on the course a good test!)
A great course
Played this with my 16 year old son. It was a great day, not too windy and hardly rained. I think it would be a lot more challenging in the wind. The rough isn’t too bad if your ball strays. There are some quirky par 3’s and the course is surrounded by beautiful scenery.
What a day
An amazing course in fabulous condition. Really challenging with some really interesting par 3’s .
Will play again
Shane Glyn and Robert
Beautiful course
I played the course in late April and was very lucky with the weather. Stunning views and great condition of course for time of year. Will definitely come back.
