Forget the golf, visit Kinghorn Golf Club for the views. Okay, maybe you don't want to forget the golf altogether, but you'll certainly want to pack a camera along with your golf clubs. Located in Fife, this 18-hole links golf course plays with a backdrop of the Firth of Forth. From the course you can see the Forth Bridge, Edinburgh and its landmarks, and Bass Rock.

The course at Kinghorn Golf Club is 5,166 yards and a par 65. You get tested right away on No. 2, a 219-yard par 3 that's trickier than it looks, what with an uphill shot that's normally straight into the wind. No. 3, another par 3, offers not a metaphoric wall but a literal one. Your tee shot has to clear it and stop on the green.

There are no par 5s at Kinghorn, but maybe there should be. The par 4s waver from the short - a 262-yard sixth that relies on you hitting your drive to the right place and your second shot accurately - and the ridiculously long, like the 462-yard eighth. Here you have to hit it long, but avoid the out of bounds on the left and hold on the sloping fairway.

Eight and No. 13 are generally considered the hardest at Kinghorn Golf Club. Thirteen - nicknamed "Lang Whang" - is a 439-yard par 4. The length is manageable, it's the "hitting into the wind" part that makes it tough. You finish on 18, the menacingly named "Cryin' Hill," a challenging 196-yard par 3.

Kinghorn Golf Club was founded in 1887, making it one of the oldest golf courses in Scotland. Starting as a nine-hole course, the final nine were finalized in 1947.

Great Find

After playing off mats on a heavily Parkland course all winter, myself and three friends decided to try a Links course in Fife. He GolfNow deal as too good to turn down. For the time of year the course was in exceptional condition.

The Greens in particular were lightning fast. The Course layout is quirky, but fun! Both the local members we met and the Course staff were friendly and engaging. If you love Golf and fancy a real challenge and treat, have a go. I have played Golf all over the world and I can honestly say you will not find a nicer set up!!

Always a pleasure to play this gem

Course was in fantastic condition for the time of year with fast firm greens and challenging holes. I always enjoy playing Kinghorn and for £14 it is an absolute bargain. Starter have a warm welcome and the greens staff were also friendly. We didn’t eat in the clubhouse as had another tee time to get to, but it was busy and catering staff were welcoming. Highly recommend a trip.

Disappointed

Realising the time of year, I was still disappointed in the condition of the course. There is clearly a problem with rabbits and the damage they are causing. Played here as a visitor many times and I think this is the poorest condition I have seen it in.
Also looks like more gorse has been removed, which takes away a bit of colour and a bit of wildlife.
Clearly work needs to be done, but a long process by the looks of it.

Never Mind the Golf, Feel the View

Great little course. Some quirky holes. In wonderful condition. Don’t let the length deceive you, we played in a gale and it was tough. Very friendly atmosphere. The lady starter even found a trolley for one of our group to use as the hire ones were locked and her colleague had left with the key by accident. 🤣
Can’t comment on the facilities as it was a Monday and they were closed.
If you’re in the area give it a try, if only for the fact that if you’re having a bad round you can relax and enjoy the views.

Ok with big potential

First time playing this course and it was foggy and drizzly the first 6 holes however the views soon opened up. The location and setting of this golf course is incredible which offers the course so much potential but unfortunately it is a fairly average course. Short and manageable for any level of golfer. The tees were a bit of a let down, over grown and not particularly flat. The greens and fairways were nice. The course is compact with little space between each holes resulting in lots of "fore" shouts across the course. I'd love to see the condition improved to match the potential here. Little expensive at £32 for what it was compared to similar priced courses.

Perfect conditions and polite patrons.

Loved this course today. I’ve never had the urge to review a course before but this one has impressed me massively. We arrived and worried that the tight little course would mean the driver would be left in the bag, driveable par 4’s and hills on the par 5’s meant that the big stick got a good day out too. The greens were lightening and provided good defence for the course, props to the greenkeepers for keeping these in top condition. The starter was very welcoming and gave us loads of tips and hints about the course while we were on the putting area. I really appreciated his time and it made a great impression at the beginning of the day.

Kinghorn

Winter Tees were in play which usually don't bother me but some of them were really far forward making an already short course very short. So was a bit disappointed

On other hand greens were the fastest iv played on and fairway was nearly as fast,

The course is a real test would like to play again in the summer

Kinghorn golf course visitor

Upon arrival to the course there was no one at the starters hut and the clubhouse itself was closed, finally was approached by a member and was informed that the course was playing off winter tee Mats and fairway mats which was not made clear at the time off booking,
When I finally did come across a member of staff,a greenkeeper on the 12th who approached in an aggressive manner on his mower shouting at me (your supposed to be playing off mats to which I replied but I'm putting only to be told that I don't care play off the mat,
I certainly would not recommend playing here which is a shame as it has potential to be a nice wee course

Tricky little course

Very nice course with some tricky holes. Some of the t boxes are right next to previous greens which can be dodgy. Some hard par 3s and a couple of long par 4s. Small club house.
