Forget the golf, visit Kinghorn Golf Club for the views. Okay, maybe you don't want to forget the golf altogether, but you'll certainly want to pack a camera along with your golf clubs. Located in Fife, this 18-hole links golf course plays with a backdrop of the Firth of Forth. From the course you can see the Forth Bridge, Edinburgh and its landmarks, and Bass Rock.

The course at Kinghorn Golf Club is 5,166 yards and a par 65. You get tested right away on No. 2, a 219-yard par 3 that's trickier than it looks, what with an uphill shot that's normally straight into the wind. No. 3, another par 3, offers not a metaphoric wall but a literal one. Your tee shot has to clear it and stop on the green.

There are no par 5s at Kinghorn, but maybe there should be. The par 4s waver from the short - a 262-yard sixth that relies on you hitting your drive to the right place and your second shot accurately - and the ridiculously long, like the 462-yard eighth. Here you have to hit it long, but avoid the out of bounds on the left and hold on the sloping fairway.

Eight and No. 13 are generally considered the hardest at Kinghorn Golf Club. Thirteen - nicknamed "Lang Whang" - is a 439-yard par 4. The length is manageable, it's the "hitting into the wind" part that makes it tough. You finish on 18, the menacingly named "Cryin' Hill," a challenging 196-yard par 3.

Kinghorn Golf Club was founded in 1887, making it one of the oldest golf courses in Scotland. Starting as a nine-hole course, the final nine were finalized in 1947.

Nice Course

This is a really nice course, pleasantly surprised by how good it was. Only negative was the fog which it made it near impossible to see where your ball went.

Quirky

Relatively short course , mainly par 4 and 3.
The course is by no means easy , each hole is different and challenging , course was in great condition , very fast greens made chipping and putting interesting and fun . Each hole requires good thought on club usage etc. Great value for money, spectacular views on all holes of the forth this alone made the round worth it .

Still Would Play Again

This is the second time I’ve played this course and would still recommend it for a round. It is a municipal course but is still in good condition and has a great little quirky layout. To be honest I think the greens could be doing with a little TLC but it doesn’t stop it from being an entertaining course to play. I will probably play here again at some point.

Hidden gem!

Chose to play this course as my friend and in try to play different courses as often as we can and I have to say it was an absolute delight!

Quirky holes and a very staggered course layout left every shot needing thought. I loved the course even though I didn't have my best golf this particular day, it didn't put me off and I will be back to play it ASAP!

If you get the opportunity to play kinghorn golf course you'd be doing yourself a disservice not to grab the chance!

I will absolutely be back to play it again and hopefully not be so surprised by the quick and subtle greens.

Walked

Great Day out

Starter was friendly, course was in good condition, for the time of year, greens like lightning, just a shame the clubhouse was not open, but did not spoil the golf and exercise.

Watch out for Dog walkers they seem to think they have right of way.......
