Day trip
Excellent day out playing at Auchterarder Golf Club!
Enjoyed an excellent bacon roll and coffee before setting out.
Greens are having problems I hear but that did not affect our general enjoyment.
One small point was no towel available for visitors for an after game shower.
Otherwise a great day out in the Perthshire hills. Love the place.
Excellent Days Golf
On arrival we received a very warm welcome from the professional and the staff in the clubhouse.
We then went and played the course which was in excellent condition with the greens playing quite quick due to the very warm weather.Great layout and a great test of golf. Will definitely be back.
Would play again
Unfortunate that the greens had been dressed but we accept that this needs to happen. It just made the putting out a little testing.
Great setting
Great scenery and setting as would be expected from a course that runs next door to the championship course at Gleneagles. Staff were very friendly and the food in the clubhouse was very good. My only issue was the condition of some of the greens. A number of the greens had been badly damaged with what looked like tractor grooves noted in many places. This made putting a lottery on those affected. In prime condition £50 per round would have been acceptable but not for what we encountered on the day. I would advise anybody to check in advance before booking.
Auchterarder
Like all courses this year fighting to get back to perfect condition due to severe winter and cold spring heat to many moans from folk quick to knock green staff but course looking well considering well worth a visit
Lovely course in superb condition for the time of year
After much deliberation we settled on Auchterarder to use our AG vouchers for a free round and weren't disappointed.
A friendly welcome and an earlier start than booked as the course was quiet. For the time of year it was immaculate, excellent tees and fairways and not a drop of water in sight.
The only mild complaint was the greens had been sanded and weren't 100% true.
Other than that a lovely track that is nice and compact and a good mix of holes and a fairly easy walk.
Had played the course over 15 years ago so couldn't remember much about it other than the wall at the 1st. Will definitely be back next summer to play again.
Highly recommended.
Excellent
Absolute gem of a course . Great lay out every hole interesting and not a bad hole on the course. Played course in November and will still in great condition and very well looked after. The greens has been cored but that is only to be expected at this time of year. Greens looked great with some nice undulations and would love to come back and play it in the summer. Overall great course.
Worth a visit
A great course in great condition with helpful friendly staff from the pro shop to the catering staff. As usual a great experience.
Superb Greens, really good test and lovely setting!
I've played Auchterarder a few times and do really enjoy the course as a good test and good clubhouse facilities. Staff were really friendly both in the clubhouse and in the pro shop. We had lunch and the kids were allowed on the putting green before I headed out.
My only gripe was that with the Sunday medal on the pace of play was poor. I was out on my own and had to wait and pretty much every hole. I can't complain too much as the staff had put me out early as there was a gap but by the 4th hole I had caught the group in front who couldn't really let me play through as they were waiting too. Some guys need to just get on with it!
Great course, immaculate greens.. will definitely be back.
Expected more
Overall the course was disappointing . I wouldn't have been happy paying full price. The tees and greens were in very poor condition and the course layout was horrible. Tees right next to greens and 2 tees next to each other meaning at some holes you had to wait 5 minutes before you took your shot. Very slow play from 4 balls infront and me and partner were only a 2 ball so would have expected to be let through but we wernt. Being reasonable drivers ment we had to wait for long periods before we could play. Overall for being beside Gleneagles I expected alot more.
1st time
Enjoyable course, friendly staff, in good nick for time of year
On par with neighbours
This is a great course and plays fantastic
It sits alongside the pga of Gleneagles and having played all the Gleneagles courses
Auchterarder does not sit in their shadow
£ for £ it is actually better value
And a must play if in the area
Great day had by our party of 4
Lovely Autumn Golf
Played as a two ball and found the course in great condition for the time of year. Fairways running well, greens faster than expected. Warm welcome from the pro, no issues with our booking. Members we encountered were friendly and welcoming. I had played the course several years ago and thoroughly enjoyed my return visit. Would recommend to golfers of all abilities and will probably return in the future.
Nice layout
Course quite short but clubbing needs to be good. Course was quite wet and was being prepared for winter golf will return in the summer to play in good conditions. But still very enjoyable.
Good alternative to expensive neighbour
Runs alongside Gleneagles estate so shares the same spectacular views. Course is mature and had developed over time. Quite far and not overly long. Couple of holes crossed over so a little confusing in plotting a route. Greens were good although we were followed by the green keeper who was hollowtining behind us. Club house in excellent order and pro very helpful. Would go back.
Watched paint try quicker!
Great course, and stunning scenery, however having taken 2 and a half hours for 10 holes we decided to walk off...as well as many others that we could see heading back to the club house! We had friends who had played a few weeks before who had the same issue at the weekend...
If you don't mind waiting 5 minutes to play every shot, this is the course for you!
NICE EASY WALK WITH GREAT VIEWS.
Pleasant walk with great views, fairly easy course with interesting holes . Was able to get round it quite quick, although some of the rough bit thick ,lost a few balls. Thought the golf pro was a bit smarmy towards the visitors ,bit cocky attitude .
amazing views
Excellent value for money superb golf course.pace of play was a tad slow but in a positive manner in my view is a good thing its show what a popular course it is being that busy
Good test of golf
The course was in superb condition and the wind made some holes a bit easier but others a lot tougher. This is a lovely flat course with great views of the Ochil Hills and Gleneagles. A great variety of holes and although there are 6 par 3s they are unique and interesting. If you manage them in 20 shots you will be on a good round!
Most of the greens are fairly small but they have some fantastic contours. Once you are on the 1st or 18th. You still have some work to do. Many of the holes are in open parkland with fine views but there are several which snake through the trees and offer quite a contrast.
The clubhouse is well-appointed and welcoming for visitors. Auchterarder's central location make it easy to access and is well worth a visit.
Gleneagles Neighbour
My wife and I picked one tremendous-value tee-time from GolfNow. Others were straightforward and much more expensive. We had a great round in 3hrs. 10. The semi-rough was being trimmed, and was fair and playable. The greens were smooth and fast--high-summer excellent. Weather cloudy and calm. It couldn't have been better.
