Let down by the greens
Really nice lay out and some interesting holes and a good challenge for the average golfer. Unfortunately let down by the conditions of the greens! Have played courses recently that were in far better shape. Found some to be bumpy and some appeared to have been sanded recently? But overall not quite a true roll! But apart from this and the dodgy single track road entry to the car park/club house enjoyed the experience.
Great course in good condition for the time of year. Friendly welcoming members.
Great layout
Bit tricky for a first time but some fantastic holes for positioning of tee and great shot making into greens . We were behind 2 4 balls so unfortunately pace of play was really slow . Also the course was really heavy but will be back for sure
Good course
Considering the terrible weather the course was in very good condition
Great course and condition
Second time playing here, some stunning views up high over Milngavie, Bearsden and Glasgow in the distance.
The course is in wonderful condition and presents some challenging blind shots. One tip would be to consider using a buggy as it’s a particularly hilly course
beautiful setting in the country
played this course today staff very obliging and helpful at check in good starting hole in front of clubhouse nice gentle dogleg from then on course set out well conditions were good a bit windy and some holes more challenging than others par threes were easy to tackle the course is attractive with its setting above the hills over looking lower Clyde valley really enjoyed it would advise anyone to book it through your site as I feel there wouldn't be any complaints
No thanks!
So I understand we are into November, the tees and fair ways were fairly decent, one hole had been shut off, added in a hole, lucky if it was 100 yards, in between some trees and over growth! It was entertaining, whilst the winter greens were appalling! Most of them you were playing were in the rough, lucky if they were 2ft x 2ft. Really poor effort, I did think very highly of milngavie golf course, but I can’t see me going back after that appalling effort today!
Great layout of the course with testing holes on it
Played with my friend 5th May 2019, course was in great condition, fairways were immaculate, greens will be lovely in a couple of weeks time but were still nice after being top dressed etc. Great course and a good test for any golfer, loads of greenside bunkers, all in all i thoroughly enjoyed my round today, great price at £19 a round, will defo be back. PS take a buggy makes it even more enjoyable. Only thing lacking was a pro shop.
Enjoyed this course
Played a 4ball on this course ! It was raining the whole round but course was playable and the summer greens where in play ! Interesting golf holes and an enjoyable round , the greens where a little slow but this was due to the wet conditions ! Will definitely be back to this course
Very hillly
For a fit man " of a certain age" this was a trial and a realisation of his shortcomings. I had an electric caddy car failure before I started and had to hire a manual one. Little did I think that I had been relying on the power caddy for a long time without realising it!! I was knackered by the third hole. For a man in his eighth decade the course is a tough push.
That said it is in great condition and there are beautiful views wherever you look. The day we played was gorgeous and not too hot in the middle of this lovely summer. The greens are tricky because of the knap but were great surfaces. But because of the hills it certainly plays long though not prohibitively long for golfers of any age or ability.
The clubhouse is in need of refurbishment in bits and is a bit of a warren to get round. The staff were great and helpful and friendly and the sandwich at the end excellent.
A good day out spoiled by mechanical failure but I shall return. Good value and I recommend it.
hidden gem
milngavie or 'mulguy' as I am told it is pronounced is a gem of a course hidden away down a long single track and through a farm. the course when found is amazing, greens and trim around the greens the best I have seen. Staff helpful and friendly and course in perfect nick
Outstandingly good course. Perfect weather , very quiet on course at Bank Holiday..10/10 for me. Very interesting layout , course in cracking condition throughout - very secluded down a farm track - lots of trees and rhododendrons - absolutely loved it.
Excellent
Good track, although a bit hilly, would get a buggy if playing again, good condition, some tricky holes, overall a good test for all handicaps.
Wet wet wet
The layout is good the condition of the turf and greens were good despite the heavy rainfall in the west of Scotland .
My only issue with the golf club is where it’s situated and the poor access up through a farm then a drive through part of the golf course to the clubhouse
Early morning chilly round
Course generally in good shape for November, frosty underoot and on winter greens for most of the round, but still good value.
A few members playing but no real hold ups and let through after a few short waits.
All in all a good morning's golf.
staff couldnt do enough for us
attended on 6/11/17, booked 2 ball, phoned friday to be told only 3 winter greens on.on arrival more than 3 winter greens playing, slightly disappointed.
club secretary present along with another member.
they phoned greenkeepers and put all flags back into normal greens.then gentleman member bought us a coffee from machine.Couldnt believe how generous and how much they wanted to do for us.
So Big Thank You to greenkeepers and staff/members who were on that day.
Course it self ,for a high handicaper was difficult, but thoroughly enjoyable.would have been better as i was 1 up with 3 to play, but got beaten.
great day ,fantastic welcome, best experience i have had from a golf club.
