The Dalmahoy Golf and Country Club bills itself as "the only golf resort in the local Edinburgh area." It makes a good base to reach other Scottish golf destinations. Dalmahoy is a top draw, designed by James Braid in 1927. It hosts upper-tier golf events and has featured names such as Greg Norman, Seve Ballesteros, Nick Faldo, Lee Trevino, and Colin Montgomerie. Two golf courses sit on 1,000 acres of some of Scotland's most magnificent landscape, encircled by woods, waters and the Pentland Hills. Each offers unique tests for all levels of golfers.

Dalmahoy Golf and Country Club's East Course - site of the 2006-08 Scottish Senior Open and several Scottish PGA Championships - offers 18 holes and 7,475 yards of par-72 golf. A 2005 redevelopment of the course ran about $2 million. On Ye Go from the very first hole, as it is called, a monster of a starter, a par-5 that measures 532 yards from the blue tees.

Battle the Devil's Table, The Ha Ha and the marathon 605-yard par-5 Braids Brawest, and you'll reach Solheim, the final hole on the Dalmahoy Golf and Country Club's East Course, where you'll need to finish the day by clearing 460 yards in four strokes.

Amazing Place

Played the championship course the day after the sister course. Despite the wet conditions the course was in fantastic condition and provided a fair challenge for all levels of golfers in the group. Great staff and wonderful amenities. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend both the course and the hotel.

Golf with friends

Recently played both courses and had a night in the hotel as part of a bromance package. Both courses were excellent despite it being wet, the staff were very friendly and helpful and I would not hesitate to reccomend the course and the hotel to my friends and family

excellent track

We had a beautiful bright but windy day for golf in late October. Course was in great condition for the time of year - a little muddy between some of the greens and tees but fairways were immaculate.
Great value - nice people and good speed of play on the front nine until we caught up with a four ball and were unable to play through.

Great course, well worth a repeat visit.

We played Dalmahoy East (Championship) course on a sunny Tuesday evening in August. Right from the beginning we were welcomed by friendly knowledgable staff who were more than happy to help. The course was in superb condition and was a tough but fair challenge with room off the tee for me to customary spray it about a bit.

Plenty of opportunities for birdies and I thoroughly enjoyed the two new holes (13th &14th) which are a real test off the tee.

The highlight of the round was the 18th with a 3 iron down the middle followed by a 3 wood to 4 feet and a putt sunk for eagle all witnessed by the local professional. I was promised a plaque on the 18th fairway for next time I visit he was so impressed with the 2nd shot! As for the other 17 holes, well enough said.

If you are visiting the area or within driving distance for a day visit, I would thoroughly recommend a trip to Dalmahoy. Both courses provide an enjoyable challenge and the whole experience from arrival to departure is 5 star. Thank you.

I played this immaculate parkland course a number of years ago in the winter and as with most inland courses at that time of year it didn't blow me away. However having played it again last week I really couldn't recommend this track enough both for value and experience. Whilst I'm used to playing links golf this place really blew me away with it's fantastic tree lined holes and true running greens. Pace of play was good and the walk up 18 is about as dramatic as any.

Will play again.

Highly Recommended

I was up visiting a friend for the weekend and we played the East Course on the Saturday. In near perfect weather and with the exceptional course condition, there isn't much excuse for the quality of golf I displayed. The course was immaculate!

Scoring opportunities were everywhere (not many were taken) whilst still offering a good test of golf. A good mix of longer, tough holes with some short par fours that temp the driver at the green! All in all, very fun to play.

On top of that, the staff are all very welcoming and very happy to help. We stayed and had food after the golf which was very good indeed!

Definitely worth a visit!

Great Course Greens Less So

Played midweek at the end of May . Course quiet and allowed to go ahead of our scheduled time. Staff at reception desk and in starter area very good and could not have been more helpful. Overall course condition very good Fairways were perfect and graded rough presented a fair challenge. Greens very disappointing for the time of year which put a slight dampener on an otherwise perfect day. Even off the yellow tees this is a long course and anyone over low single figures is likely to be hitting lots of fairway woods and hybrids to a number of the par 4's. Hitting areas quite wide though so should not present many problems in terms of looking for lost balls definitely worth a visit.

Tee 2 green is very good, but....

The greens were a mess, covered in sand and impossible to get any kind of putting game going.
Have played both courses many times and love them both but the round was spoiled by the state of the greens. 3 very grumpy old men, well 2 old men and myself.

Dalmahoy - East Course

Played this course for the first time today, for this time of the year the course was in decent condition, obviously as it was a week day it was quiet with a fast pace of play. However, I can imagine in the height of summer this to be very busy due to the country club/hotel being located on the course. I wouldn't return in a hurry but certainly wouldn't turn a game down if offered.
