Dalmahoy Hotel, Golf & Country Club - East Course
About
The Dalmahoy Golf and Country Club bills itself as "the only golf resort in the local Edinburgh area." It makes a good base to reach other Scottish golf destinations. Dalmahoy is a top draw, designed by James Braid in 1927. It hosts upper-tier golf events and has featured names such as Greg Norman, Seve Ballesteros, Nick Faldo, Lee Trevino, and Colin Montgomerie. Two golf courses sit on 1,000 acres of some of Scotland's most magnificent landscape, encircled by woods, waters and the Pentland Hills. Each offers unique tests for all levels of golfers.
Dalmahoy Golf and Country Club's East Course - site of the 2006-08 Scottish Senior Open and several Scottish PGA Championships - offers 18 holes and 7,475 yards of par-72 golf. A 2005 redevelopment of the course ran about $2 million. On Ye Go from the very first hole, as it is called, a monster of a starter, a par-5 that measures 532 yards from the blue tees.
Battle the Devil's Table, The Ha Ha and the marathon 605-yard par-5 Braids Brawest, and you'll reach Solheim, the final hole on the Dalmahoy Golf and Country Club's East Course, where you'll need to finish the day by clearing 460 yards in four strokes.

A must play
Course was fantastic weather conditions wasn’t great but greens were superb. We enjoyed the course and very informative staff will definitely be back and I recommend this course to everyone.
Given recent wer weather course was in very good condition. Long holes (par 4's) make this course a tough test. Staff all very friendly and welcoming.
Long and repetitive
Was wet when we played the course which made it feel long and holes quite similar to each other apart from 13 and 14.
Greens had fertiliser on them and I found the pace variable.
pristine condition
My two friends and I played the east course our first time here the weather was very wet but it did not deter us from enjoying our golf as the course is in pristine condition we could not fault anything in fact we cant wait to go back and play the west course trust me if you are thinking of booking a round at Dalmahoy you will love it and the green staff are ever so friendly.
Well maintained
East course is a well maintained course the staff are friendly and helpful. It’s a fairly open course but very long you need to be long to get near the greens in regulation enjoyable even though I wasn’t long enough
Dalmahoy East
Course was in great condition. Is a very good test of your game at over 6700 yards off the Yellow tees.
Surprised by winter measure in play
Totally surprised by the use of winter measures with respect to tee positions that effectively reduced some tough holes to a drive and a wedge.
Cracking Course
Really enjoy playing the East Course, let's you open up and crack a few drives with big wide fairways. It's a long course with a few holes uphill so leave 4 hours to play it. Course was in great condition considering there was heavy rain the day before. Look forward to playing here again
Great course with room for improvement.
Firstly the course is great. For a 20 handicapper I find the challenge enjoyable, if not demanding. The course is well maintained and will be back. The only grievance we had was the tee off timing. We arrived and gave details only to be advised we should be going to golf shop. Duly went back to be informed we were already checked in?? We also had a group behind us who were meant to be ahead but when queried we were just informed to tee off? Poor organising.
This is minor and course makes up for this. Enjoy.
Cracking impromptu round
Great visit. 2x 8 handicaps - Booked late as played an early round at our club and wanted more.
Got there early, bar open for a bacon roll and a drink.... Just what the doctor ordered after already playing 18.
Course was great, layout is a real test and some really good holes, standouts being 13/14 - really tough, long, narrow par 4s needing 2 good shots to hit GIR. Loved 18, with hotel in the background. Par 3s a good mix. Course had a few bare patches but overall thoroughly enjoyed it.
Impressed with the way they've laid out everything to cope with he current crisis as well. 1 way systems keeping everyone in right place and maintaining distance.
14 pounds!
Great value for money. After a week of heavy rain the course was in fabulous shape m. Muddy but fairways and greens were super.
Dalmahoy east course
Excellent days golf good course and friendly staff
Championship layout
Really impressed with every facet of the experience. Course is a great test that requires good ball striking. Most holes are fairly generous fairways that are well disguised with brilliant bunkering or contours. Greens have lots of undulations on and around making approach play a challenge too. Really needs yardage discs dotted around at far more points between 100 and 200 yrds however for the serious golfer.
Sunday round during long weekend trip to edinburgh
Booked a round ahead of trip from the states. Need to book a riding cart ahead of the round as may not be available on the day. We had a twosome and walked using a buggy in 4 hrs. Experienced a full year of weather conditions in one round sun, rain, wind which made the experience even more memorable. Rented clubs were top notch and in good condition. Take an extra sleeve or two as rough is lethal on a lot of holes so partner needs to follow the ball on every shot.
Good track and well worth a visit.
You must stop for a beer in the bar afterwards to round off the experience.
Great parkland course
Played on a veRy quite day, great value £24 greenfee. Very friendly starter. Fabulous day out. Number 13 hole needs a clear sign as it is very easy to miss 13 and 14. Otherwise highly recommend
Excellent parkland course.
Played the east course today
Course in good condition back nine .more interesting than the front nine.
Good overall challenge pleasant day out reasonable pace of play would definitely return.
