Glencorse Golf Club
About
Glencorse Golf Club was voted a hidden Scottish hidden gem by Sports Illustrated. It's not hard to see why: Founded in 1890, the club was designed by Willie Park and claims top golfers as members. Among them are the former Walker Cup Captain George Macgregor and the former Ryder Cup Captain Bernard Gallagher.
Glencorse Golf Club offers 18 holes and 5,217 yards of parkland golf that, even with eight par 3s, provides a hearty challenge: Only one hole of this octet measures less than 200 yards. The golf course provides a solid day for golfers of all levels.
As a bonus for golf tourists who are also regular tourists, Glencorse Golf Club sits nine miles from Edinburgh Castle and the city center, and a mile from Rosslyn Chapel, featured in "The Da Vinci Code."

Great test
You have to play this course it tests your course managment with club selection and ball positioning from tee to green. Has a good range of different holes from long par 3s to short par 3s and a few dog legs which need accuracy with water running through alot of holes to make it even harder with the added bonus of elevated tees on some holes. Expected winter greens at this time of the year to be told 1 out of 18 great credit must go to green keepers. Overall you want be disapointed playing here and will definatley be back very welcoming staff and just a good all round day out go see for yourself
Loved it
Dispite being autumn with leaves on the ground that's my only drawback but every parkland would be the same this time of year. Fantastic layout and alot of holes over a stream to go over so laying up sometimes if playing conservatively,
definitely be back.
Excellent condition and staff
Fairways and greens fantastic and views incredible! Nice burn weaving around course. Will play again!
Maximising income the sign of the times
I paid for two tee times in good faith . The morning changed slightly and my friend needed to look after his 8 year old .
Not a problem I thought , we’ll phone Glencorse and add his son who’d starting learning golf .
Was told no dice as our 2 ball had become a 4 ball with 2 other unknown golfers .
Now, I’m not anti social , I’m a friendly enough chap , but as a good weather golfer, you have to be in the mood for small talk and chit chat .
GolfNow booking up 4 balls arbitrary to maximise income has blown the flexibility and enjoyment and I won’t be back .
Good day out
A nice course with some very good well framed holes.
Standout was excellent clubhouse, catering and very friendly staff.
As regards to layout it is a short course but has 7/8 par 3s all except 1 over 200 yards. It was a novelty at first but come the back 9, that wore off always having to take the headcovers off.
Signage could be improved for 1st time users, guess would be ok the next time.
Didn’t enjoy the 11th hole that was a bottleneck, crisscrossing the 18th and 12th holes.
Usual oblivious 4 ball in front in no hurry, seems to the norm these days.
That said excellent value and we enjoyed our day.
An exciting course
Glencorse is an exciting course with stunning views. It’s not for the faint hearted but offers a real challenge with something new round every corner.
Really love this course - hidden gem is definitely the correct description
Having found out about this course only 4 weeks ago, I’ve now played it 3 times. I really love it - every hole is interesting and really requires some thought rather than just pulling out the driver and whacking it up the middle (or rather into the rough). I took a friend who is a better golfer and he agreed that it’s a gem. We really enjoyed the chat with Cliffe the local pro golfer as well. Will definitely be back again soon…
A hidden gem
A beautiful course that tests your long approach skills, having eight par 3s that average over 200 yards.
Great view of the Pentland Hills coming in from the 18th.
Really interestingly laid out course
If you enjoy a challenge and variety with lots of interesting interactions with water features, raised tees, elevation changes and some lovely natural wooded areas … this course is for you. I loved it and will definitely play again. Compared to my local course everyone I interacted with was very friendly and helpful too.
Beautiful Golf Course
Excellent golf course in a very picturesque setting.
From the first hole to the 18th my son and I were both really impressed. Condition of the course was excellent with the greens being surprisingly quick. Each hole had a special characteristic, none more so than the par 3 5th!! I loved all 8 of the par 3s, they all had their own unique challenge. “The burn” twists and turns its way around the course and comes into play on 11 of the 18 holes!!
We never used the clubhouse as we were tight for time but from the welcome I was given in the Pro shop before teeing off I’m sure that would also have been a pleasure also.
A special place indeed and I’m looking forward to returning soon!!
