Kittocks
Superb course with great holes and views, if you get a chance try the torrance course, not as many great views but a true links test, all in all 2 hreat courses at a very reasonable price.
A pleasant surprise
I'd always had the impression that the Fairmont St. Andrews courses were corporate, thoroughly American-style affairs. I found the Kittocks, at least, to be something more of a hybrid between that American resort style and something more Scottish.
Bruce Devlin's design is largely low-profile and uncluttered, reminding me of his work at Secession Golf Club in South Carolina. The Kittocks has several holes on and overlooking some impressive cliffs, as well as medium-range views of the town of St. Andrews to the north. The turf is firm in the Scottish tradition, though a little softer than area links. Still, the design takes this and the wind into account, making for a fun round.
Great Day of Golf
The friendly and helpful reception was then surpassed by the stunning course in great weather. All in all a wonderful day out. I'm trying to think of a way to move closer than my current Glasgow home.
Great track on a great piece of property over looking the ocean spectacular
Great course in every way and real pleasure to play. My observation is that it is not a Scottish golf course but rather a typical hi end North American course. It was obviously built for and by Americans. That said it was a fabulous day, a real treat! Jim B
Great Course - A Pleasure to Play
Even playing from the Red tees it is a long course (6000 yds from reds) and wind in your face on some long holes makes it very challenging. But the scenery is incredible and the course is very well maintained. Why anyone would bother queueing to play the more famous St. Andrews courses when these two courses (Kittocks and Torrance) are only 2 miles away, more beautiful, and half the price or less is amazing.
Kittock course, St Andrews
Our group has played 11 rounds straight during the past two weeks at many historic courses in Scotland including Prestwick, Troon, Turnberry (both courses), Old Course at St Andrews, Dundonald, Kingsbarns, Jubilee....
lots of great golf...but expensive for sure. Yesterday was to be a day off but it was sunny so we looked at Golf Now to see if we could find a hot deal...and we did! We played Kittock for 37 pounds and had a great time. Not quite like playing the big name courses but about $300 less - definitely a great value. Kittock has several holes along the ocean and a challenging layout. We are thinking about playing it one more time.
Kittocks did not disappoint
Played Fairmont Kittocks today.. What a great course! Views over St Andrews were stunning, course conditions were great, staff were friendly & helpful, coffee was good too. We’ll be back - hopefully on a less windy day!
Good golf.
Only bacon rolls available and catering staff not so helpful considering st.andrews is reknowned.
UN-BEEEEE-LIEVABLE!!
Before I start, what tells you how great this place is, is that I probably played my worst scoring round of the year, lost about 6 balls....... AND STILL LOVED IT!!!
Check-in...... Great welcome as soon as we got out of the car, and were given a "whats-what and where" of the facility.
Staff and facilities...... professional, friendly staff, immaculately clean facilities and well appointed.
Course...... unbelievable condition. Beautiful layout, immaculate tees, fairways and greens. Greens run true but wow...... soooo fast! Fun to play but frustrating as missed a few pars I should have had (my fault!).
Beautiful, beautiful course.
Overall...... I'd go back any day of the week. An absolute joy to play.
Last game of 2018,,,
Although I had played the Kittochs before and knew what it was all about. My daughter played it for the first time,, we had a really enjoyable day. I always find that the crosswind makes the back 9 a real challenge, 1st,2nd,5th,6th,9th, 14th,15th,16th,and 18th real pleasing on the eye s tremendous golf holes.... I struggled, but my daughter shot a respectable 84 on a tough day...yes we’ll be back
Kittocks
The wife and I played this course on the 17th.the fairways were like Carrpets.the greens were true and receptive to a high ball.can not praise this track enough or the staff the whole experience is worth every second of your time whilst there.if up this area give it a whirl like us you will fall in love with it.it is a tough course but very rewarding.
Tornado alley
Always a pleasure to play the fairmont courses when visiting Scotland, but it was so windy the ball was being blown off the greens.
Great Course let down by greens
Great layout but greens cores and sanded made for very bumpy surface. sister course the Torrance was clear but this was not offered as an alternative so found out about the greens on the course. Hired power caddy failed on the 11th and waited 20 mins for replacement. Not close to being worth the £95 per round full price. Even at the TOT £38 you should expect better.
Overall Great experience
Having played this course several times since it opened I would say that the new owners have done an excellent job it's in the best condition i have ever seen!!!! already a good layout with the new care and attention that it now has it really is a most play in the home of Golf. Specially the view from the 15th hill most truly be one of the best in golf.
A fun track
Have to admit, anytime you have to drive past the Old Course to play golf somewhere else, you're always going to feel disappointed.
But this place was sneaky good. For starters, it was in great shape despite that dry conditions in Scotland all summer. The pace of pay was great and the holes were strong. It was a bit of a difficult walk for Americans that don't often walk - long walks between holes and from the 18th green to the clubhouse. But that's nitpicking.
A day in St. Andrews with great weather can never be a bad thing.
Fantastic layout and scenery overlooking the Auld Toon
Can't say enough about this course One of my all time favourites. May not have the history of the nearby more famous links but at under £40 on a glorious June day fantastic value for money. Great greens Plays like a links course even tho on cliff face.
kittocks
played before, straightforward course ,no wind , had rained which took the sting out of it greens good,£45 bargain
