The Murrayshall House Hotel & Golf Club's Lynedoch Course, opened in July of 2000, provides a variety of challenges for golfers of all abilities. Set within a mature woodland, the golf course's narrow fairways, water hazards, bracken-filled gullies and generous, undulating greens provide a good test.
Lynedoch, like the Murrayshall Course on the property, was designed by Hamilton J. Stutt. At 5,361 yards, the par-69 golf course is shorter than its neighbor but still a challenge, running through Scots Pine woodland and wildflower meadows, leading to the large, testing greens.

The front nine is made up of seven par-4 holes and two par 32, while the back nine includes the golf course's only two par-5 holes, the 456-yard 12th hole and the 440-yard 14th.

Not what it used to be like, disappointing

Wholly disappointed with our 18 holes on the Lynedoch from last week.

Course was empty which indicates people not interested in playing there.

Wanted a relatively quicker round than playing the main course and it was ideal for that in terms of time to get around the course.

Booking in and to the tee were relatively straight forward.

My biggest gripe was not being told about the condition of the greens and the maintainence work that had been carried out and the "discolouration" of the bunkers with some sort of weed killer of some sort.

The greens were ok at best. Been cored and refilled but never got a true roll or consistent pace between all 10 greens we played on. The bunkers had discolouration from spraying so we decided to lift and drop out of them as we were not told what it was and with having a skin condition I wasn't wanting to risk any contact burn issues.

I love the set up, some nice short par 4s that can bite you if your offline and the par 3s may look easy but you need to be accurate.

Disappointed at green fee and condition presented. Needs to be better especially at this time of year. Won't be back anytime soon I think. Greens recently played on the North Inch are far superior than here.

Also watch out for the "service charge" when buying any drinks or food in the bar afterwards.

Very hilly Challenging course

A hilly course in excellent condition. Challenging at every turn. Was advertised as a 18 hole course on golf now but in fact its a ten hole course which you need to go round some of the holes twice. This didn't have an affect on our day and we had a great time. Would recommend hiring golf buggy!!!

Good, challenging, Layout

This course isn't particularly long but has recently been changed to a 11 hole course. Holes 1 and 18 are unique whilst you play the other 8 holes (2-9) twice. The signage and mapping of the course isn't great and I was a little uncertain that I was on the right track for the first few holes. The club should make efforts to improve the signages and mapping of holes for each tee box to ensure players know where they are.

A lot of blind, challenging holes, which were made harder by the lack of mapping. Overall a good course that is unfortunately let down by the uncertainty it is marred in.

Testing course with great views towards Angus Glens

The Lynedoch is a good testing course. Avoid laying up short on some holes and you can make par. The sign for the 2nd hole needs improvement and is up a steep hill behind the private houses. The fairways are in good condition but you can find your ball will roll downhill into difficult rough unless you put it in the right place. The second shot to 7th hole is particularly testing and one I could play a lot without getting it on the green!
Overall, an enjoyable course though I do prefer Murrayshall

Poor putting surface

The course itself was good but they have took away 8 holes and it's no longer an 18 hole course. The greens where in terrible state they had been sprayed with some sort off black stuff which effected your putting big style. The other course they have they greens where green and looked in good condition pity about they course we were on. They took away 8 holes and was told in the pro shop it was because they are not getting played enough. They did not mention that the greens had been treated with something and it might effect your enjoyment. Not sure if I will go back and we were really looking forward to playing there again as we classed it as one of the best we had played but after that it's dropped diwn to one of the worst

Death of a once great course

Never been more disappointed in a round. I use to be a member of this course and have continue to play however will never play again. 8 holes have been removed from the course so you now do 2 loops of the same holes for your 18. The character of the course is ruined as the best holes are no longer playable. Unfortunaty, new owners i think, have destroyed a once good course and should be ashamed of themselves. Avoid this course.

Ruined

Had been a member in the past and enjoyed playing the lyndoch which always felt was more challenging and scenic than the murrayshall.

However in the last year the new owners have seemingly decided to do away with nearly half the holes, the best ones in my opinion, which you can see growing over now which is a crying shame .

Have completely destroyed what was a really enjoyable course - probably some cost cutting exercise.

Save your money not worth it now.

Ruined

Used to be a member here and loved playing the Lyndoch occasionally as found it to be tougher and more interesting/scenic than the murrayshall.

However since last playing it a year ago the new owners in their infinite wisdom have decided to do away with nearly half the holes (the best ones imo). Completely ruined it.

Won’t be playing there again. Imagine it was a cost cutting exercise but it’s a crying shame when you see those holes now just left to grow over.

Poor Greens

A four ball on the 29th September 2018. The course is set up well with the fairways and bunkers all in great condition but the greens were the worst we have played on this year.

Cracking course superb views

Booked to go yesterday with friend previously played murrayshall glad chose to book a buggy as would have been a fair climb to top of the course superb views from top over to the mountains. Course even though a bit wet it places was a great condition greens rolled lovely took a bit of time to convince yourself to strike ball a bit firmer only in couple of bunkers well tended was well worth the price will come back with other pals

What a Course!!

Fantastic course, haven't played a course like this before. Its entirely different from its sister course Murrayshall.
Its tight with lots of elevation changes, stunning views and well thought out course planning.

Hilly Variety

A windy round, basically dry, but on a course much affected by unseasonably wet and cold weather. A difficult start, with ravines on the first two holes. From three to twelve the course is at its best, with superb views and great variety. From thirteen on it becomes quirky and pretty wet. Trolley paths are hazardous, following holes that are up and down and roundabout. It's challenging. You have to watch everything. You need dry conditions for it to be real fun. Overall, though, it's worth a visit.
