Westhill Golf Club
About
One of the newer courses in a land of golf courses that are over a century in age, Westhill Golf Club still brings three decades of experience to the plush Aberdeen golf scene. Built in 1977, Westhill quickly earned a reputation as a quality place to play golf and a great option for those looking to make the most of their Scotland golf vacation package.
Westhill Golf Club is an 18-hole run that plays to nearly 6,000 yards and a par of 69. Water, well-placed bunkers and challenging greens make the course a stiff test for even low handicappers. Well-maintained fairways and mature trees only help add to the allure of this course that sits less than 10 miles from Aberdeen.
And while the golf will keep a player challenged, Westhill also has what so many other Scotland golf courses present - spectacular scenery. Your companion during the round will include stunning views of the surrounding countryside and Royal Deeside, as well as the Grampian Mountains and Mount Keen.

Tough
A nice, well looked after course, a tough walk for 3 over 60s. Some very interesting holes where accuracy is a must, other holes quite forgiving for wayward drives. Fairways and greens excellent.
No one at Clubhouse to check in and bar area closed.
Decent course. Greens could be better.
Course was overall in good shape. Tidy.
Greens weren’t great though.
Feels like at one time was a prosperous club which has fallen a little from its glory days.
Enjoyable day and fun had.
Westhill
This is a very nice course if you enjoy playing on a slope with hidden holes front nine starts on the short side which is fine then it gets longer with back to back longer holes got to think your way round but enjoyable to play on a nice day.
Post-Lockdown 18
Greens and course in great condition, hopefully back again next year.
Westhill golf Course
Was aware of the hilly. nature of the course. which is built on the side of a hill, from an office golf outing forty years ago. Some things stuck in your brain for life. Pulling a trolley tested my wife and I physically, we’re both eighty next year. Lack of adequate signage on a few holes as to direction for the next hole tee was very frustrating.Luckily a friendly club member at the rear was helpful by sign language from afar. Greens while generally sloped and difficult to read., were in very good condition.Sloped fairways on most holes was an additional dynamic. Nice views of surrounding countryside on many holes were a welcome distraction. Competed the course In 3 hours and 10 minutes as no hold-ups, and with a somewhat dazed and euphoric feeling. A nice little course but not a great course. Be another forty years.
Winter greens - waste of time and money
Winter greens on every hole, winter tees, yellows worse conditions than reds, made up holes on fairways to make up 18 holes between 14. No direction round course. 11 quid i would rather give to the poor. Disgrace of a course in the winter. Do not recommend.
Nice, friendly course
Playing this course for the first time and impressed with what we found, a well laid out course considering it’s suburban location.
The condition of the course was good the only negative being that the greens had been aerated recently making them quite rough, not that it can be helped as needs must.
There is a self check-in arrangement for members and as we were had an early tee didn’t see any staff before our round although we did tick off our booking on a sheet next to the visitors check-in screen. No pro shop but there are some basic items available. We didn’t use the clubhouse after the round but if the smell of food wafting onto the 18th green is anything to go by it must be half decent.
An enjoyable round and friendly members even considering how many pairs we held up with our foursome! (all were very polite as we let them play through). Will look out for more “hot-deals” at this course.
A pleasant surprise
Despite the relatively short length the narrow fairways and hilly terrain made it an interesting challenge.
I would definitely play here again.
We beat the weather!
As we went out on our round the rain was coming down heavily but by the 5th it was glorious! The course was in good condition considering the soaking it had taken, though the greens were all covered in fertiliser which made reading pace and line difficult. A few tough holes in the early and late stages of the round and the course opens up in the middle. The 6th in particular is a beautiful looking hole. Incredible value right on my doorstep, I will be back.
Nice wee course let down by narrow-minded members
Played this course with friends a few weeks back. Nice wee track, everything you'd expect from provincial set-up. Had the most horrendous experience in the clubhouse being accosted and outright offended by one of the older members at the bar. This man was everything that is wrong with legacy golf culture and the reason memberships are falling and youth participation is dwindling. Clubs will be forced to close off the back of members attitudes to 'outsiders' and I dearly hope my experience at Westhill isn't a common theme
Not bad
Pros:
fair test of golf for senior members (not too long but accuracy required)
Par 3's not too bad
Firm greens
Half decent views.
Cons:
Very steep. If you're unfit you may struggle
Very short (some longer holes in middle of both 9's). Seems like the course has been squeezed into the land.
Some par 4's were reached with a 2 iron.
Tee boxes are very uneven and fairways are at times rediculously cambered, straight tee shots landing on fairway rolled into rough on many occasions.
Both par 5's are beside housing estates. 5 on back 9 especially. I imagine learner golfers skelp the odd house.
