Torwoodlee Golf Club

At Torwoodlee Golf Club, you be ensconced with the warmest Scottish Borders hospitality at this private club that also caters to visitors. A scenic golf course with more than a century of history, Torwoodlee is just outside the town of Galashiels and provides golfers of all levels a stern yet fair test.

Torwoodlee plays to 6,021 yards and has a par of 69. Designed by Willie Park and John Garner, Torwoodlee is at once a test of a player's golf skills and a delight to their senses. With the River Gala to one side, Torwoodlee is set betwixt a combination of mature woodlands and rolling parkland, making it the perfect combination of nature and challenging play.

Less than an hour away from Scotland's capital, Torwoodlee hosts several golf tournaments throughout the year. And one more area where this gem shows off its class is with its green fees, which always run less than 50 euros. Torwoodlee is a true prize in the Scottish Borders golf scene, and a course many consider a true must play.

Oh...what a difference a year makes! Not one to add comments on any club, but so very disappointed in the decline in Torwoodlee. Have played there for many years - was always a must on our itinery..but alas, no more.

Service poor and unprofessional. Food unappetising and lukewarm - in all a bit of a shambles. Cook - and I use the term loosely spent half the time smoking at the back door. Not a good impression.

Booking was a bit of a hassle - in their infinate wisdom the committee got rid of the girl in the office, so forget any real help when you want to book. Had to find our own accommodation, which she was always more than happy to help us sort out. She is als a miss when you arrive - always had a smile & a warm welcome for us vistors. this time the Steward was eating a yoghurt and did not even get up to greet us..all we got was a very curt "yes...can I help" - contradiction there. All in all, poor service, poor food and not very friendly anymore - how sad...won't be back
