MUD
Just a wee bit muddy on the 4th& 5th holes
Apart from that we really enjoyed our round
Nice course, ruined by inconsiderate members.
Played this course on Sunday in practice for the upcoming scrambles tournament. Genuinely lovely course with some nice challenging holes and some really nice holes, the hole down the hill is one of my favorite holes of any golf course I've played, a driveable par 4 that will punish people who try to hard and mess the drive up.
Our round was quite enjoyable until we got to the 14th. Suddenly what was a very quiet round looked now to be a very busy round, every hole from the 14th was packed, members were jumping on and playing the first 3 holes then heading to the 14th just to get a quick 8 or 9 holes. This absolutely ruined our experience, we were now stuck behind a 3 ball with a child who was just hacking away at the ball, I normally don't mind this but when they've jumped in front let us play through.. Needless to say they did not let us through. What was really the cherry on top of the cake was the 18th, I was setting up for my second shot 125 yards out from the green and someone runs on to the green to speak to this 3 ball. FIVE MINUTES I had to wait while they had a chat on the green.
A really pleasurable round ruined by total disregard of golf or course etiquette. If this was my local club I would have been asking for their membership to be stripped if they done it again.
While I will play here again in the future, I will probably never pay for a full price slot for this reason, it also settles the debate I was having about moving from my home club near Hawick to this one to save on travel. Safe to say I will not be taking up membership at this club if that is how the members play, with total disregard for anyone else but themselves.
Best way to spend a Friday!
First time on this lovely course. I joined a couple of very friendly locals for a round and had a great time. You get a real nice feeling driving into the course car park as you enter off the main road through a large wooded area. The course is a green oasis surrounded by hills and does look a pretty picture. Booking in was simple and a warm greeting was had from the staff. The course it’s self is nicely laid out with some spectacular holes and views. It is not overly long, which suits my game, but certainly presents some challenges, with some fantastic tee shots to savour! The Borders to Edinburgh train line passes through the course creating two sides to the it, you have to cross an old stone bridge to enter one side. The train line is in a cutting, so you will barely notice any trains, which themselves are not frequent. This simply adds to the charm of the course, indeed it would have been quite something to have seen a steam train passing through! The greens were in very good condition as were the fairways, the whole course is well presented (credit to the green staff).
Borders Break
This is a challenging course--not somewhat nor very--because it is all up and down and sideways. It is scenic, and not too long, but my wife found it hard to get any rhythm and distance. Well, I did too. The greens were pretty good, consistent and not too fast. Tees, though, were quite messy and uneven. They bring down the rating. Even so, the fantastic walk and variety leave a positive impression. Some might need a buggy...
A gem in The Birders
We booked on Friday for Saturday morning. It was a great day and the course was in fantastic condition. There was no one to talk to when we arrived and the concession was not open so we couldn’t get anything to eat or drink before we went out. It was open when we came back though and the staff were lovely.
The setting is beautiful some memorable holes and great pace of play. Have already told friends about it and we will be back.
Outstanding
Horrible day weather wise as it rained from 1st tee to 18th green. First time at course and will definitely be going back. Excellent layout and challenging holes. Can’t wait to play again in the sunshine 👍
Nice course
Nice course to play. Course was good to play considering the time of year. Nice views as well. Bonus is I won
Wee Hidden Gem
Was pleasantly surprised with the condition and layout of this course. Greens have recently been cored but still very playable. We had the course to ourselves and enjoyed some quirky holes. Love to play this in summer
Booking system
Initial search was for Sunday and booked on this basis - only during the confirmation my initial search had changed to Friday
After discovering this error I cancelled Friday and rebooked for Sunday
Cancellation was confirmed on the system but no refund provided by Golfpass
Great course & friendly staff
Really enjoyed playing this course. Lots of interesting holes, lovely fairways and decent greens. Will definitely be back to play this one again.
Staff were very helpful with trolley hire and made us some lovely sandwiches after our game. Lovely people :)
Well kept course
Friendly welcome and lucked out with the weather. We'll kept course and the ball is generally in play.
Torwoodlee golf course
Lovely little course set in lovely surroundings. Only gripe is the eleventh and fifteenth holes need a next tee arrow by the previous green as it’s not easy to work out where they are and I ended up wandering around cursing. That said a lovely little course. The fifteenth has something I’ve never seen before A shared green, I think it was shared with the first hole but was the only one and was different
Torwoodlee- first time
A challenging course with many different hole designs, don’t let the the first deceive you and gentle start leading to some more challenging holes (6th hole). Par threes have small ish greens and scoring is a bonus. Think my favourite hole was the par 5 14th a swinging dog leg right off the tee to a two tiered green going away from you.
This is very covid safe venue all measures in place for a safe experience.
