Thornton Golf Club
About
Thornton Golf Club sprawls across an expanse of wooded parkland bounded by the River Ore. The course is mostly flat, making it easy to walk but don't let the lack of elevation deceive you. The golf course provides challenges for all skill levels, it especially tests players who have a tendency to hook their shots. The river comes into play on the par-3 14th hole, which is the first of a set of five demanding holes. Despite being some of the shortest holes on the course, they are actually the most challenging. Long hitters will have to be careful on these finishing holes. The final hole is longer than most of the course's short par 4s but it is more straightforward. In addition to the interesting round, Thornton Golf Club has built its reputation on the excellently maintained greens.

A Hidden Gem in the heart of Fife
I used to be a member here, and was back for a round with an old friend. The course was in magnificent condition and the greens were beautiful and true. It truly is a beautiful and picturesque course, and you need to hit the ball relatively straight to avoid the trees lining the fairways.. The back nine has a greater variety of holes compared to the fronr, and is equally testing.. If you're looking for a parkland course in fife, there are few better..
Excellent customer sevice
First class day really enjoyed the course and the meal. Also staff in pro shop were first class would recommend to anyone.

Hidden gem
Heard through a friend that this course was good & it didn't disappoint! Maybe not the longest or hardest golf course but easy walk with beautiful greens even in February! made it a pleasure to play round & I'm sure I'll be back again.
Sunday in Thornton
The sun never shone , but this gem of a course never fails to exceed our expectations, ld highly recommend this course, a good walk , virtualy no hill climbs, course and greens in great condition , backed up by a warm welcome by staff and members, get this on your bucket list, it’s always on mine.
Beware of stray shots
I did enjoy the round. A nice little course, tricky in parts but overall let down by a couple of points. Staff member in pro shop was extremely rude and the amount of stray shots from other holes, without a warning shout of fore was absolutely ridiculous!
Worth a visit
Very good course, flat, it would suit those of more advanced years. Good variety and excellent clubhouse.
Wet but wonderfull
A good mornings golf, putt we picked the first day in weeks to play this wee gem of a course, weather did not deter some of the hardened golfers we were not the only ones on the course, which was in great shape, a warm welcome from the staff and great hospitality.
Good practice course
We played this as an in-between round on other courses in the area. It was fine as a practice round or if your budget is limited. It was a fair test of golf as the fairways were a little tight so you have to be straight. We were lucky when we arrived the local 4 ball booked ahead of us sought us out and asked us if we would like to go 15 mins early to tee off ahead of them - which of course as a two ball we were very grateful. The course was well kept and all the green staff and shop staff were very helpful. We are a mixed couple playing off 8 (man)and 12 (Lady) and come to the area every year to try all the courses in the area. It is hidden away but worth a visit at the price we paid.
Classic parkland done right
Perfect parkland day out. Layout looks dull and potentially short on a map but it’s amongst mature trees and the majority of the holes need a decent dig off the tee if you want to get at the greens, so playing safe with an iron is only workable on a few holes. Fairways aren’t stingy but certainly aren’t generous, & if you miss the trees rarely mean you’re doing much more than chipping out. Grass under the trees is short so you don’t waste your day hunting for balls, punishment enough is trying to thread your ball through & under the trees back into the fairway. Greens are very firm, and not quite as true or consistent as this level of firmness needs with a bit of crowning on a couple of greens, but nothing overall to be ashamed of. The course is almost flat, although a few quirky holes near the finish add some fun & would give great risk reward opportunities for match play. Bunkers - and the lack of receptiveness - guard the greens well and the course is pretty & well maintained. Despite it being a Saturday, pace was rarely an issue as everyone was in a group, and everyone was relaxed & accomodating. A LOT of fores as plenty of balls zig zagged onto neighbouring fairways (couple of them mine...) but everyone was really good humoured about it- obviously something the members / regulars are used to! I will definitely be back here, and I expect quite regularly. While this course might appear basic at first glance, it does what it’s meant to - tests whether you can hit the ball where you’re aiming!
Thornton golf club
Very well kept greens. Beautiful tree lined fairways. Very challenging last 4 holes
27th August
Staff made us very welcome, course was in good condition despite all the rain we have had recently, tee off time was perfect, a good afternoons golf was had by our threesome, thanks again Thornton and Teeoff times UK
Lovely wee course
Interesting drive to the course. Not a lot of trouble to get into, not very hilly, easy walk.
Value for money
Played course few years ago greens were bit better but still thoroughly enjoyable good new golf shop all round very happy with day and always good service from tee times .
Friendly staff
Played the course before so thought go back before winter comes but 1st of Nov they were on 18 winter greens so didn't enjoy it at all.i don't mind 2-3 but 18? I expend some work on the course but not that.
Variety spice of life
Very well laid out course, very flat and suitable for or all but especially seniors variety on most holes and hitting straight is essential.
