Silverknowes Golf Course
Silverknowes Golf Course

A flat course with trees as hazards, accuracy is a must with many bunkers and the wind coming off the Forth often being a factor.

Excellent links golf course with magnificent views across Firth of Forth to Fife. Not a typical links course as although many holes are long and bare there are a number which are bordered by the neighbouring wood adding to the challenge.

Location: Four miles north-west of city centre. North of A902.

My favourite in Edinburgh! I think the location (strong winds, etc) is just adding a bit more challenge to the game!Def would recommend it to anybody!

Very good course, it's just a shame about the weather!

Ignore the comments from the first reviewer as he probably played in the middle of winter with snow all over the place. What do you expect at this time of year? i'm sure St Andrews wasn't in great nick either!

Also, which course are you a greenkeeper at? and i'll be able to tell everyone if you are a decent greenkeeper, who knows his stuff or just an an idiot with a rake.

Presentation very poor!! greens extremely narrow which only encourages and maximizes wear and tear to the grass plant also greens very thatchy in places certainly no consistency in firmness from 1st to 18th greens. Approaches to long height of cut must be 25mm in places very poor" No shape to fairways at all ? overall great layout folks " but very poorly maintained.Thats what happens when council privatises!!! And yes I am a greenkeeper.
