About

Holes 18
Type
Style Parkland
Par 70
Length 5914 yards
Slope 126
Rating 69.4

Niddry Castle Golf Club offers 18 holes of par-70 golf over 5,914 yards, providing a good course for all levels and ability of player. Magnificent vistas provide a glimpse of the Pentland Hills, and the holes all offer their own unique tests and hazards - plus there's a castle smack-dab in the middle. If you can control your shots and manage a solid golf course, then this patch of parkland ought to be on your itinerary for any golf trip to Scotland.

Fire away at Cannons Drive, the Niddry Castle Golf Club's 198-yard par-3 first hole, featuring a green that slopes away. The long hole is the sixth, Castle View, a par-5 524-yarder - pick right or left of the fairway at the tee to avoid sticking yourself behind a large tree for the second shot. Gan Hame, the 18th hole, a par 4 that measures 404 yards, provides a superb finishing hole, with an elevated tee shot to a fairway that features trees on both sides.

If you're going in winter, when the club sees fewer players, Niddry Castle Golf Club offers golf-and-coffee specials.

Ideal for a good day out

Challenging course with varied holes, quick a few blind tee-offs but some wide and open holes as well, good variety.
Would definitely play again.

Calm despite the storm

After a horrendous storm the night before we were looking for a course that was open. These guys were open and the course had held up brilliantly in 90% of the play.

Lots of different and varied holes - many different challenges and enjoyable. The pace was superb, but we did play mid week. Not sure I’d like the course so much if it was busier, as lots of tight fairways.

Value for money was very good and I’ll definitely be back to play again.

Has it all

This course offers you everything you want in a game of golf.
The views are absolutely stunning, the course lay out may not suit most but I have no problem with the odd cross fairway.
Some gorgeous tee boxes and as for the greens they are fantastic, the staff have done an outstanding job, definitely worth checking it out.
Played first time last year and I have since become a member.

Nice course

Niddry Castle is a decent course and well maintained. There are a few holes where you have to walk back on yourself to get to the next tee 16th/17th holes in particular.

Worth another go

First time playing Niddry Castle and very impressed overall. Lovely looking course which has been well looked after. Greens in good condition (albeit some were pretty frosty as we were out early).

Some fantastic looking holes and whilst short, is challenging enough for a mid to high handicapper. Think I will be leaving the driver at home next time as this is definitely a plotters course.

Tee boxes were not the greatest and finding your way to them was challenging at times. Not a fan of having to share fairways (only a couple) or hit over greens so glad it was quiet.

Will be back in the summer for sure and have recommended to the society for an outing.

we are not amused

when we arrived were informed 3 winter greens rest full greens, clubhouse would shut at 3pm. As it turned out 18 winter greens and tees. Came back in at 1.30 changed shoes and went in to clubhouse for drink and snack only to be told it was closed nothing available.

Depends what you like in a golf course.

Staff and members very welcoming at this small members course. Not my cup of tee, very shorts with odd layout on a very holes. Though may float other people's boats, at £13 on a hot deal can't complain.

Played this course for the first time. greens and fairways in great condition. Greens were fast and tricky flag positions . Enjoyed the round however the layout was not to my liking and on a busy day it would be strange in having to tee off over greens and onto shared fairways. The tee position for the 17th is adjacent to the 16th tee. so you play the 16th par 3 and walk back towards were you just tee'd off.. Quirky layout , not to my liking but others may find it acceptable. Overall good course and excellent value for money

First and not last visit to Niddrie Castle GC

First visit and not disappointed. Weather was ideal, course was pretty empty, seen about a dozen other players. A woman’s 3 ball quickly let me play through but not before they tried to kill me with their drives on the fifth, one hit my bag! This is one of the risks on this course is that there is a few cross overs and shared fairways. However, it’s also what makes some of the holes interesting.
Most holes have the castle (not sure on that) in view, and the course winds around in quite a small footprint.
Quite forgiving but get too lazy and get a bit wayward and you will be punished. So keep it calm, down the middle and you’ll be fine. Get adventurous and it’ll bite you on the bum!

Didn’t use the facilities as headed straight home and it’s putting green is all Astro-turf so my score for a 3 in that field. But get it played it’s brilliant for the price.

Course in excellent condition given we’re just emerging from the winter months. Greens very fast and fairways nicely tended. Clubhouse fare was tasty and of a great standard. All staff very friendly and welcoming. Will definitely visit again.

ALLWAYS ENJOYABLE

Having played this course several times over a fifteen year period I don't think it has ever been in better condition, more ground has been made available behind the ponds for errant shots and the greens and fairways are in excellent condition. The staff are always very welcoming but the changing facilities and club house are a little tired. Not withstanding that its always a pleasure to play here
