Set on the side of Holm Hill, Newcastleton Golf Club remains a brilliant walking golf course that will give golfers a unique experience that combines history, awe-inspiring scenery and challenging golf. Brilliant views of the Liddlesdale Hills and the historic village of Newcastleton will be a player's constant companion at this Scottish Borders sensation.
The finishing hole at Newcastleton, the 521-yard par-5 No. 18 will leave golfers breathless at the finish, as the hole plays downhill into a dogleg, leading to a small hidden green. While the course is set up as a nine-hole run, diverse tee positions make for an exciting round of 18 full holes that will play to nearly 6,000 yards through hills and valleys, with spectacular views highlighting the round.
Opening in 1894, Newcastleton gives golfers the joy of ancient antiquity at one of the oldest golf courses in all of Scotland. And while the golf, history and scenery are the star of the show at Newcastleton, the green fees are also worthy of awe, as normally visitors can get on the course for between 10-to-15 euros.
Location: From Carlisle, M6 to A7. Turn off Canonbie/Newcastleton.
