Par 68

Rating N/A

The Ashludie Golf Course at Monifieth Golf Links is a compact and challenging test with tight fairways. Designed by James Braid, the golf course requires more brain than brawn, demanding accurate iron shots to the small, tricky greens.
The shorter Ashludie course next door to the Medal is an entertaining, if quite short, venue. A par-66 golf course of 5,123 yards, there are no par 5s but several very good par 4s, and four par 3s.

The holes to watch out for are the 13th playing to a plateau green and the 15th, a dogleg par-4 turning left where good positioning of the drive is essential.

Friday 17th

Booked last minute, but wow!
Arrived early and met the staff in the Pro Shop and they were very friendly.
The course was stunning. Probably the nicest that I have played.
Lots of narrow fairways (suited me to T) which meant Irons off the Tee.
My only gripe (and absolutely no fault of the course) was that my watch got abit scrambled and couldn't work out what hole I was on.
But overall, 10/10
This course is golf at its purest form

Outstanding

Easy walk, nice scenery, rough not too rough and greens faster than a puck on ice. I played poorly and I blame the wind. I loved this track but the walk back to the car park was a long one, my biggest gripe. Overs though, this course is a joy and a club I intend to join.

Great course

Don't be fooled by the shorter yardage of this Ashludie course.
I found it both challenging and in excellent condition.
Fast greens even in the wet.
Friendly staff.

Coming back

Started my golfing life 60 years ago on this course.
Won the Kidd Cip on it in 1971. A nostalgic return after not playing it for over 20 years. Played with my wife and thoroughly enjoyed the original.layout and the courses condition. Many very gappy memories.

A mixed bag.

The good bits

Very short links , good intro for juniors and maybe older golfers.

Good condition

Staff are excellent and helpful

Not so good bits

It’s too short for any serious golfer, most par 4s less than driver to reach which causes a big problem. Congestion with having to wait on par 4s till at least the group ahead are on or have left the green.

There is no starter and a few members argued they were off before us. Turned out they were not so after we teed off they proceeded to tee off before we reached our balls, bouncing balls around us. It carried on each hole until they were firmly warned. Grumpy old man and an all the gear no idea with no etiquette, patience or skill spoiled our round and qualified it as the least enjoyable game of golf I have ever experienced in 50 years.

Great short course

After a night of heavy rain we were not expecting the course to be in such great condition. Fantastic fast greens and only a sign of the previous nights rain.

Can’t wait to return

Course is short but still challenging. Some tight tee shots and tricky approaches. Thoroughly enjoyed playing the course and will be back
