Lothianburn Golf Club

Established in 1893, Lothianburn Golf Club sits at the bottom of the Pentland Hills, a mile from Edinburgh. It's one of the golf courses on the James Braid Trail. Reputed for the quality and speed of its greens, the course features a pair of exacting par-5s and several tough par-4s. Featuring a view of Edinburgh and the Firth of Forth, the course measures 5,692 yards and is a par-71, with greens that frequently top 12 on the Stimpmeter.

Lothianburn Golf Club mixes parkland and moorland and offers a hilly course, featuring a top attitude of 900 feet above sea level. Established in 1893, the course was expanded from nine holes to 18 in 1903 and again tinkered with in 1907, when two of the less challenging holes were junked in favor of what are now the 11th and 12th.

A round at the Lothianburn Golf Club golf kicks off on the Faulds, a par-4 measuring 270 yards and featuring an opening drive - usually against the wind - between an out-of-bounds area and a rocky outcrop. It concludes on The Smiddy, a par-4 276-yarder, where you can shoot for a birdy, but mind the gorse lining the fairway and watch out for that blind drive.
