With a hillside setting, Langholm Golf Club offers magnificent views of the town of Langholm, north to the Rolling Border Hills and south the Solway and beyond.
The golf course's signature hole is the short par-4 seventh. At 334-yards, the hole routinely catches the over-adventurous. The green is an island affair, cut off in front and right by a large ravine, bounded by trees on the left and an out of bounds at the rear. The ideal way to play this hole is an accurate drive down the fairway followed by a short pitching wedge to the center of the green. A sign asks that golfers not try to drive the green at this hole.
The eighth is a long par-4, followed by the ninth, a beautiful finishing par-3.
Langholm Golf Club was founded in 1892.
Location: Turn off Edinburgh to Carlisle road A7 in Langholm at Post Office and follow signposts.
