Friendly staff and members
Lovely little course and perfect for start of season. Greens were in bad condition but spoke to a member and he told me they usually come good in June so would be worth a revisit to find out. Pace was slow but it was a beautiful day and course was busy due to nice weather. What can you do, it happens.
Nice course
Enjoyed my game there
But if you are a beginner as I am some holes where by tight for me narrow fair ways
But overall great place to play definitely be back
9 April 2021
Course seems an excellent course, however was disappointed that there were so many winter greens still in play for the time of year. Full greens were very Sandy as well. Would have maybe reconsidered our round if this was known at time of booking. Would love to play the course again when it is a full 18.
Great test of golf
Well laid out and in great condition for this time of year, bit disappointed that we weren't told of the winter greens and top dressing going on for the price paid, good honest test of golf, members we met were very friendly, will definitely play again
Beached Greens
First to note, upon arrival there was nobody in the pro shop and we received no information about the course at all. I can imagine in prime season this course would be lovely, however we paid £18 each to play the round, however there were at least 6 temporary greens and every green in play was full of sand. The temporary holes were poor and had no information on yardage. Not a bad day out, but we should never have been charged that much for a half-ready golf course.
Decent course with some nice holes
Hard to judge this course at the moment as greens still quite poor from winter and had a few winter greens on. I'd expect the condition to be a bit further on by April. The par 4's are a little monotonous as quite long with a lot of up hill 2nd shots. Some really nice par 3's and short 4's to keep your interest up though. I imagine this will be a nice test come summer when the condition improves.
Hayston revisited
I was so impressed by the condition of the course considering the recent rain. We were given a lovely welcome by one of the lady members and Scott the pro. Just sorry we were not on all the greens and it was the last day of mats but we thoroughly enjoyed our golfing experience.
First time
On arrival we were told to play off mats or place the ball in the rought. Also my Dad was not allowed to use his electric trolley on the course and had to use the clubs own trolley with hedgehog wheels. We were told that there would be a front 8 and back 10 with the 4th not playable and a replacement hole further into the round. Not all holes were using full greens and the ones that did they were shockingly bad. In summer this course would be brilliant. I expected it to be decent at this time of year but I was left disappointed.
Excellent course, very well maintained
First time playing hayston and the staff and other golfers were very helpful. Course was well maintained and fun to play would recommend to anyone.
No fairways, no greens = no fun
With it being march i didn't expect the course to be in perfect shape.
I think 3/4 of the greens were off winter greens, all but 1 covered mostly with sand.
Halfway through the round members told us that the fairways were off limits as well. Some notice would've been nice.
One of the holes was missed and then replaced with a 70 yarder randomly squeezed in later on.
The holes were a good length and varied and during summer I'm sure good fun.
If I'd known there were no fairways and almost all winter greens I wouldn't have booked till later in the year. Some communication would've been great rather than agitated members shouting and whistling
Rubbish course
Should have taken Waders course was full of water winter greens winter tees was not told this when booking through GN members rude
One to Avoid
Lovely course, nice layout!
Lovely course, great layout, friendly staff in the pro shop. The 4th hole was out of play, but wasn't mentioned before we teed off, however, it didn't detract from an enjoyable round of golf! Will definitely be back!
Great course
Very busy course., but play kept moving at a good speed. Played at that the start of winter, so looking forward to playing in summer.
