Very enjoyable round
Nice course, sone reachable Park 4s and a decent challenge but nice wide fairways.
Shot 85 not too bad for first visit (14 over) so a little better than my 17 handicap.
Good greens fairways and great scenery.
Will be back
Excellent course
In a wet period I'd guess this course gets squelchy, being right down by the river. But in dry conditions like now it played beautifully. Well maintained, though thre bunkers are only now being resanded for the season. Greens were fast and true. Fairways lovely. Tranquil location in old manor grounds. I wondered why I hadn't played here before, but will come back. Staff in pro shop and bar very friendly and helpful.
Fantastic course
Played this course a few time now and just gets better. I'm even considering joining as a member. Fantastic course to learn the game and also for those who like a challenge too. Greens are well kept and fairways included!
Well worth a visit
Having played the course in its current incarnation
a few times now I have always found it to be a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
Green keepers always hard at at work & very friendly with their chat.
The course has vastly improved in years gone by with its new layout and the condition underfoot is excellent in comparison to some of the other parkland courses within the Lothian’s , a credit to the green keeping
Staff.
A nice, well kept Long playing course which is no longer a slog...
Lockdown round
Lovely course, was winter so the course were protecting the tee boxes and the fairways were not seen in best light but the greens were far better than expected, very fast and true.
Staff in the club shop were very welcoming and helpful and there was a very busy coffee and sandwich shop for take aways!
Only negative (for my play) is the road which runs through the course to get to the car park, I only mention it because I had a close shave with a car getting in the way of my sliced shot on the 18th, I just want to put the warning out there for future players to take extra care, or have insurance!
All in all a very nice course!
Good course - will play again in summer.
The course layout, pace of play and staff was excellent. My only problem is with the price for playing when the course only offers winter greens. However, as I said, the course itself looks good and I plan on playing again in the summer when I will be able to play the course to its full potential.
Windy!
Very windy day making for tough play! Enjoyed the course though. Will definitely be back hopefully on a calmer day. One small complaint would be the Tee markers. (White, Red and Yellow) It was difficult to see the colours as these were flat on tops of wood. At a couple holes where it wasn't obvious where all the Tee's were this caused a little confusion. This is my only complaint though and may be a little nit-picking!
Play Through
Fouth time I've played here, love the course and have never had an issue until this last visit. I was playing by myself and van get round the course in 2hr15min. On this occasion it took 3hr30min. I had been offered to play through on the 3rd and the 8th. I then caught up with a 3 ball at the 10th. I waited quietly at a respectful distance while the gentlemen teed up. After the third had hit he turned to me and said 'sorry, but from here on the pace will be slow'. I didn't want to ask to play through as its not polite to assume to skip ahead. But I do feel it is the courtesy of those in front to offer me the opportunity to play through. By the time I got to the 15th the two pairs I had passed were now behind me and waitimg. Apart from this little slight its still a great course and will defo come back.
Hidden Gem
This is a course that golfers of all capabilities will enjoy. The course was in excellent condition for the time of year and we could not have asked for a warmer welcome. We must make mention of the new catering facilities in the clubhouse...Lisa is both a welcoming host and a great cook...get out on the A1, when travel restrictions permit, and enjoy this hidden gem
Let through
I was playing a round by myself and I'm a rapid walker. I was let through on 3 occasions and each time the players were very friendly. A good bunch of guys. No issues getting through and was a great morning.
