Looks to be struggling
Working out a portakabin as clubhouse closed. Scorecards where just photocopy on normal paper. No use in rain! You know a golf club is struggling when they charge you 20p for a pencil!
Course layout good and very picturesque but unfortunately course needed some TLC especially around the fringes of the greens. Tees were all positioned randomly as well. Footbridge out of use, not a major job to rectify (another sign of lack of funds).
Don’t think I’ll be back in a hurry.
Excellent course and staff
Callander course is a lovely parkland course and is in great condition. Weather wasn’t great but we enjoyed our golf anyway. No clubhouse at present which was disappointing if you wanted a meal but hopefully will be in place in the future.
Fabulous service from Jamie, staff , who was welcoming , informative and a lovely young man. Went out of his way to take us home when we couldn’t get a taxi. Can’t thank him and praise him enough for such a wonderful gesture.
Will definitely be back and hopefully a new clubhouse will be built!
Simply beautiful
By all accounts from the starter, a lot of work has gone into the course recently and it shows. It’s beautifully manicured and a tribute to the (only 3!!) greenkeepers. The course isn’t the longest and is very varied. Many holes being a joy to the eye and a joy to play. The value on Golf Now was second to none. The views are stunning and I’ll definitely be back. The few holes which clearly can get a bit waterlogged in wet weather do nothing to detract from a truly joyous experience.
Wee gem
I played here myself. Spur of the moment. And really enjoyed. It. The club is undergoing changes. So no club house a temporary set up in place. Its a great wee course. Especially not being too long it lets you get round in under 4 hours no problem. The members were really friendly. And said have a good game.
I played on a Saturday. And never felt rushed or the ikes. My brother and I go try every 2 weeks different courses and usually pay a fair bit more than this course. And the condition this was in had better greens not that patchy way or bumpy .you will love the views of some of the par three's. I will be back myself too play this course. It has a practice putting green not sure about a hitting net. If first time at Callander nip down the road the wee town is really nice
Great condition, superb views
The greens were excellent and the presentation was superb. Fast pace of play means it rarely takes more than 2:45 for a round. Members are friendly and helpful. You won't find better at the price.
Great course
Good course and would definitely play again. Great value and staff were very friendly. Only downside is the greens were a little bumpy but nothing too bad that you can’t handle. At time of visit the clubhouse was closed due to refurbishment.
All in all a good course and will definitely be back
Loved this course played for first time. Was on my own and course was quiet. Thought it was going to be bit hilly but this was not the case. Fareways were lovely with consistent good lyes. Off yellow tees so holes were not too long although plenty of challenging par 3s. Golf often took a backseat as I stood to take in the stunning scenery. Greens were good and course was firm as it had been a dry week. Loved this course and will be back.
Wee gem
Lovely golf course, went with my Son which was his first time at Callander, nice and quiet start on the bank Holiday Monday,, unfortunately the clubhouse wasn't open, the course was in very good condition , we still definitely be back, had a great day out with my Son
A course in transition- avoid
Pros- nice location. Used to be a very good course. Short and a quick round.
Cons - Clubhouse closed down. No pro shop. Photocopies of scorecards. Overpriced. Bunkers in a terrible state (multiple weeds and stones). Poor drainage.
Such a shame what has happened to this course over the years.
Great course and value for money played at 9am and never saw another golfer all morning, great weather to. A shame no clubhouse yet
Enjoyable but very quiet
Very unusual experience. Booked on line and turned up but no one around apart from lady doing some gardening. Club house closed no obvious reception or toilets. Found an old trolley, without straps but fortunately had someone rope in car to attach bag. Teed off at 10:45, lovely sunny day and went round in under 3 hours. Only saw three other people playing. Course was in good condition and well maintained with some challenging greens.
What Amenities & Greetings
Wow wow, only in Scotland,my mate and myself have played all over(Glasgow home town), Scotland, but sadly,we have to say this is the Worsted for Amenities ever,no clubhouse,no pro,no score cards etc,no toilets. The course is fab,the 15th hole a must for the bucket list.Their is money to be made at this establishment with catering/clubhouse etc, what they need is a good strong committee with the right outlook,But sadly on the day we visited it was not to be seen, such a shame.I give it 3years and it will be houses.Thomas P Martin
Stunning
Beautiful views, well laid out course, every hole a picture. Very good course condition. Respectful green keepers, efficient reception lady. Clubhouse not open so can’t comment on this. Probably the most beautiful course I’ve played in the UK. Met retiring captain, who was friendly and welcoming.
Lovely setting, nice course.
Lovely location, nice course with good layout. Greens difficult with slit tine but very playable. On the down side no club house, loos closed when we finished.
Slow play due to the arrogance of a few members
My friend and I have played this course on several occasions this year a nice and somewhat challenging course however, this was by far the worst round ever due to the ignorance of three members who held us up at every hole , there where numerous opportunities when they could’ve let us two play through but failed to do so thus resulting in a frustrating slow round to the extent where both if us were ready for walking. I would recommend this course and suggest that certain members read up on course etiquette.
