Bonnyton golf course

We were supposed to be playing strathaven but a late cancellation meant it wouldn't be happening so after quickly going on golf now bonnyton came up and to be honest I didn't know what to expect, but I can honestly say its one of the best courses I've played the fairways were immaculate and the greens were the best I've probably ever played we were just over 3 hours to play 18 holes that was with 3 players we have played strathaven for the last few months and honestly this place is night and day will definitely be back 5 stars 🌟

Excellent but!!

First time playing this course, I was very impressed by it. Great layout, very well kept, every hole is very different and 90% of the course was in a fantastic condition. Only issue was that there is now a few winter greens in place now which put a damper on what looked like some fantastic green locations. This is obviously due to the extremely heavy rain over the past few weeks but obviously this is to keep the greens in the best condition possible so can't complain to much about it!! Will 100% be back next year!!!

My experience at Bonnyton was great.
Showed up to play on the Friday and it was 40+mph winds. The club shop Pro rescheduled my booking for the next week ( 5mph winds ) which he didn't need to do.
Once I got on the course I was very impressed with the layout and condition.
I was playing solo, so played fast but still really enjoyed the course and loved the scenery.
Would recommend to anyone who lives in the north

Fantastic layout great views

Played the course after a couple of days and to my surprise it was fairly dry underfoot. It's not a difficult course with some fairly short par 4s from elavated tees. The first 3 par 5s are all reachable in 2 so real chances for birdie. If you strike the ball well from the tee you will really enjoy this course as it presents itself with real opportunity

Fabulous value for money

Played the course for the first time and wasn’t disappointed! Fantastic layout and setting with some stunning views and course in great condition with nice greens. Few blind holes and hidden hazards but overall great fun. So much so I’ve booked another round for next week.

Pity the bar closed early

An excellent find this course. Proves you don't have to be long to be challenging. Plenty to think about with bumps, hollows and greens in excellent condition.
Many holes under 400 yards, but you need to think about position off the tee.
Greens were rolling true, but had some hidden slopes that made you look twice at the line.

For £20 a round, this course is excellent value to play.

We finished about 6pm and there was nothing in the clubhouse, it was closed. Sahme as we would have liked to sample the apres golf,,

Bonnyton

I’m a really windy day and finding the course for my first round here on top of a hill I knew it would be a stiff challenge.
The greeting from the pro was first class. Explaining the house facilities and the pace of play etc was superb. He could not of been more helpful.
On teeing off on the first I was immediately aware of a stiff challenge. Raised greens and elevation changes were immediately apparent. It was a shame that course maintenance had taken place and a few damaged cups but it didn’t deter from a good challenge.
Overall the par 5 holes were fun and tricky short par 4’s. A great day out.
I can highly recommend this for a day out. A hidden gem in all senses of the term.

Leave till later

General course condition was reasonable for early season golf. Fairways were a little bare, lacking growth, tees were uneven and they put you off from the very front. Bunkers were in good shape but the big drawback was the greens. They were heavily sanded and spiked, lumpy and lacking any growth. Almost impossible to putt properly. They need at least another month before they will be playable. Clubhouse service and food was first.
class. A course to go back to in the summer perhaps.
