Balfron Golf Club
About
Balfron Golf Club is an 18-hole golf course that was recreated from its original layout by respected Scottish golf architect Robin Hiseman. The new nine-hole golf course was opened in 1994, and it was extended to 18 holes 7 years later.
The Baltron golf course is located six miles from Loch Lomond and 20 miles north of Glasgow. There are inspiring views of the local countryside, eerily reminiscent of playing golf in the Scottish highlands.

Balfron
Lovely course with a great variety of par 3 4 and 5's
Not too long but is up and down with hills, would definitely recommend and will definitely be back again.
Hidden Gem
This is a great course. A bit remote near the Campsie Hills in Stirlingshire, but a nice drive to get there. Took about an hour from the centre of Glasgow. Overall impressions were very positive. Course was in very good condition for the 1st week in April. Tees, fairways, greens & bunkers are well maintained. Nice open fairways, not too many trees or bushes. Although its in land it reminded me of links courses. Its a wee bit hilly but some very nice view from the higher points on the course. Its challenging but not difficult. Club house is very basic but you get a very friendly welcome. I have no hesitation in recommending this hidden gem. .
Absolute Gem
I love the whole feel to this course. The people friendly and accommodating. Was winter greens at this time but the course is looking and playing good. Fully recommend it🤗👍
Hidden Gem
Second time playing here great course well worth a visit great layout well maintained even this early on in the season looking forward to coming back in the summer 👍
Enjoyable day out at Balfron
Warm and informative welcome from club steward and green staff. Really enjoyed the course. Great layout with wide open fairways, giving a great opportunity to hit driver. If you did stray off fairways, the ball was easy to find in the short rough. 16 full greens in play. Winter tees because it’s winter and played ball off fairways as you would in summer. As close to summer golf as you could reasonably expect on an inland course in the winter. Would definitely visit Balfron again.
Disappointing golf day
Course was not in good condition even considering the time of year.
Practise putting green was very small.
Practise driving area didn’t have any nets so useless
Won’t be rushing back anytime soon
Amazing
Scenery was amazing golf course great for this time of year pity there was still a few winter greens but overall best course I have played so far ⛳️⛳️⛳️
Clubhouse a let down
First time playing this course. Great course, not too challenging. Well signed holes with images great for new players. Clubhouse is no more than a large shed which was very disappointing. Would play again but I'd take some lunch with me
Amazing views
Thoroughly enjoyed the course today, will be hard pushed to find a better course around with better views and back drops to holes.
Really good lay out and a massive plus is the bunkers having plenty of sand. Greens just been too dressed so greens slow and bumpy but will be for the benefit later in the season, I’m sure they’ll play brilliant in the summer.
Not much of a clubhouse but possibly to be expected in the rural setting. Would love to play again and would recommend to others to do the same.
Great Course
Great course. A bit of hill walking on some holes but enjoyed the course very much.
Excellent as usual
Had to play this course again as it was that good the first time I will be back very soon thanks again for the course looking great.
A fantastic new clubhouse starts construction in January time. However at £ 30 it’s brilliant value for the money.
