Alness Golf Club
About
Alness Golf Club is located on the shores of the picturesque Cromarty Firth and is only a 20-mile drive north of Inverness International Airport. The Alness golf course has been around since 1904 and has undergone some significant changes in the last 100 years. The most significant was the 1997 extension from nine to 18 holes.
At 5,013 yards, the golf course accommodates a range of skill levels. Every golfer will love No. 14, arguably the most beautiful hole on Alness. Its two fairway and two green bunkers also means Alness is a tough test of golf.
The Alness Golf Club facility includes a pro shop and a clubhouse. Lessons are available.

Definitely a hidden gem
Very challenging, was in very good condition considering the weather and time of year, and only a tenner to play, bargain. Really glad we decided to play.
Don’t waste your money or tome
Fairways and greens were like a season of amateur football had just finished on them, dreadful.
No scorecards available to view layout of each hole, not ideal for people playing it first time.
Sand bunkers? More like brick bunkers.
Advertised as 18 holes and 12 only available.
Shambles from start to finish.
Bunkers
Every Bunkers are full of weeds
Booked through Golf now at £26 which was ok but I would not pay the full price if £40. Sorry
Fun course with some interesting elevated holes
Good course, with a good variety of holes and interesting par 3’s.
Highland gem
Course all to myself. In excellent condition, some short holes but don't be fooled you need to be accurate. Will be back to play again.
Picturesque, Challenging and friendly
Alness Golf Club in my opinion is the most friendly and challenging course in Ross-shire. Beautifully manicured greens and a tight fairways really makes the course taxing but enjoyable. Beautiful views from the 9th tee looking all the way down the Cromarty Firth with all the Cruise Liners only a couple of miles away and the view from the 14th is a joy even though the following drive of that said hole may not be so enjoyable. Heartily recommend Alness to locals and tourists alike
A thoughful course
The course was short, hilly and technical due to its narrow fairways, small greens and tight driving holes. Its hard to be certain of the lines from the tee as some are deceptive and narrow looking. Greens in excellent condition with few but well placed bunkering. Many holes leave you wondering how to keep the ball in play, which we liked as a test. If you like to lash a driver off the tee you will not get the best from this course. Give it respect and you will enjoy it more.
Have to be sraight
Good wee coarse but very tight fairways have to hit straight or your ball is lost in deep rough or in the trees
Great course Alness
One off the best courses around Ross-shire highly recommend
Nice course
Wonderful day on this besutiful vourse
