We played in Ayrshire, Scotland at Troon Darley in summer 2005 and what a mess. The course is not in bad shape as such but the whole course is strewn with rubbish: plastic bottles and bags were under every, and I mean every, gorse bush.
We also played on a day when there was a competition and the play was dreadfullly slow. The marshall was nowhere. What a pity.

Each time we play golf in the north of Scotland, my sons and I always base ourselves at the Claymore House Hotel in Nairn. You've got three great tracks there in Nairn (Nairn Dunbar Golf Club,
Nairn Golf Club and Cawdor Castle Golf Course), plus it's an easy drive to Inverness and even Royal Dornoch.
