Gullane Golf Club's No. 1 course - East Lothian
Gullane No. 1 is the first and most famous of three courses at Gullane Golf Club in East Lothian, Scotland, established in 1884. It's a championship-caliber golf course that hosts many of Scotland's top events, including Open Championship qualifiers when the Open is hosted at Muirfield.
The golf course is unique in that a large, seaside volcanic hill, which has been collecting sand from the nearby coast, gives the course a links feel, even though some holes play well above the sea. It also affords fantastic views of the Firth of Forth all the way back to Edinburgh, where the castle and Arthur's Seat can be seen. Other holes, however, play right along the coast and the dunes, like the magnificent par-3 ninth and the par-5 12th, named "The Valley."
Visitors are welcome daily on Gullane No. 1, though there are certain blocks of times in both the morning and afternoon. Visitors are welcome at all times on No. 2 and 3 when there aren't tournaments.
